Maryland Dressage Show

Hilltop News Maryland Dressage Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> It’s been a couple of years since we were able to attend the MDA Show in Bel Air and we were very happy to add it back into our schedule this year.  It’s a fun, laidback environment and it’s close to home!  Iris Aberbach’s Boxster A continues to be a standout as he moves up the levels.  On Saturday he won Fourth Level 3 with a score of 72% and was the Fourth Level High-Score for the day and on Sunday he repeated the win and High-Score Award for his Prix St. Georges test.  Lara and Mitch Mitchelson’s Faberge Blue is just beginning his show career and this was the first recognized show for the 4-year old Dutch gelding.  He earned a 69% and 2nd place in his first class, Training Level 2, but then won his Training Level Test 3 class with a 75.2% on Saturday.  The following day he won Training Level 3 with a 75.5% and was High-Score Training Level both days. It was going to be a day filled with 70’s for Michael as he continued the streak with Kaja Brix’s Westfalen gelding Feuerbach.  In his first outing with Michael the pair earned a 75.5% in Third Level Test 3 on Satuday and a 72% on Sunday. They were the Third Level High-Score winners for both days.  The best part of this show however was having all the owners present to join in the fun! Hilltop Wraps Up Our 2014 Foaling Season

Hilltop News Hilltop Wraps Up Our 2014 Foaling Season Return to All Hilltop News >>> May 12th and 13th brought more healthy foals here to Hilltop Farm.  On Thursday night, Melissa Stubenberg’s mare Wraina (Obadiah-Sir Wimborne xx) delivered her third foal – a very flashy Royal Prince colt that is a full sibling to the Premium Filly and Devon winner that she had last year.  The following night, the maiden mare Reata (Rousseau-Catalpa Lane xx) delivered an elegant colt by Qredit that shows so much of his sire in the stamp.  Owner Kathy Jackson can be proud of this new addition. Our final foal of the season was born on May 30th.  The mare Whizzo (White Magic-Lemon) was carrying her second foal, this one by Doctor Wendell MF.  The dark-coated filly with lots of chrome is a stunner and a great way to cap off the season.  We have nine healthy, high-quality foals safely on the ground and we are very excited of the consistently high quality we’re seeing in these foals. Lexington Spring Dressage

Hilltop News Lexington Spring Dressage Return to All Hilltop News >>> A busy week of horse shows continued for us with the Lexington Spring Dressage Show.  Showing stallions while there is a breed show also running on the show grounds can be a bit of a challenge at times, but Qredit and Sternlicht stayed focused on Michael and the work throughout the weekend.  Saturday began with Qredit winning his Third Level Test 2 class with a 68.4%.  Qredit’s power and expression catches spectators’ attention wherever he goes and it’s fun to watch a crowd follow him from warm-up to the show ring.  In the FEI Young Horse Test of Choice class, Sternlicht earned a 7.72 and also finished in 1st place over quite a large field.  Sunday saw a reversed order with Sternlicht starting the day in the USEF Four-Year Old qualifier.  His overall score was an 8.06 and one of the judges’ comments was “now this is a dressage horse!”  Competing for the first time in Third Level Test 3, Qredit once again won his class with a 68.7%.  The trot tour was a particular highlight and he shows such suppleness in his half-passes.  We’re in full swing with breeding season right now, so the boys will get a little break before they show again this summer.
