Dressage At Devon

Hilltop News Dressage At Devon Return to All Hilltop News >>> All of us here at Team Hilltop enjoyed another successful year at Dressage at Devon 2016. With the help of King Santacruz, Quinnten and Michael presented a number of Hilltop-sired or client-owned horses to top placings over the course of the week. Despite the usual small bit of rainy weather, we were happy to catch up with clients, friends, and even welcome a few new faces into the Hilltop barns. Devon has consistently been a perfect setting for one of the final big shows of the year, and we extend our gratitude to show management and the volunteers for making all of it possible.  We congratulate all of our owners and clients on their successes at Devon! VADA/NOVA Breed Show

Hilltop News VADA/NOVA Breed Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> Quinnten Alston handled a number of horses for the VADA/NOVA Breed Show at Morven Park on June 10th.  Iris Aberbach’s Jamaica A (Ampère-Bugatti) was a superstar for her first time off farm, winning her Two-Year Old Fillies class and then going on to be named Filly Champion, Young Horse Champion, and Overall Grand Champion!  She also won the Dutch Warmblood IBC class and was High Score for the day.  This fantastic filly is out of a full-sister to Iris’s very successful FEI horse Boxster A and is definitely one to watch for the future. Chelsea and Linda Allen’s Wingman (WakeUp x Royal Beauty), also on his first trip off farm, won his Yearling Colts/Geldings Class and was then named Reserve Champion Colt.  Margaretta Frederick’s Coeur De Lion (Coeur d’Amour-Fit to Fight xx) placed 4th in a large Two-Year Old Colts/Geldings class and also placed 5th in the Oldenburg GOV IBC. A few clients joined as at the show with their young horses too. Nancy Twenhafel’s Kinettic (Netto-Donarweiss) won the Yearling Fillies and placed 2nd in the Dutch Warmblood IBC. In the Two-Year Old Colts/Geldings class, Marne Martin Tucker’s Senzation (Sezuan – Jazztime) was 2nd and Amber and Eric Fies’ Sieg (Sir Gregory-Donnerhall) placed 6th. Thank you to the volunteers and show organizers at Morven Park enough for putting on such a well-run (and fun!) event. Dressage at Devon Breed Show

Hilltop News Dressage at Devon Breed Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> Devon is one of our favorite shows and we always look forward to catching up with other breeders, owners, and friends at this historic show.  A large group of horses joined us from Hilltop’s Raising Department and Devon Prep Program making this year’s Devon especially busy for Team Hilltop.  Assisting Hilltop Handlers Quinnten Alston and Michael Bragdell was King Santacruz.  We were thrilled to welcome King back to Hilltop for the third consecutive year and can’t thank him enough for his extra assistance over the week.  His superb handling skills compliment Quinnten and Michael’s style so well. Tuesday’s warm sunny weather made for an excellent start to the show on Young Horse Day. Virginia Leary’s Don Hill gelding Don de Lion (Don Hill-Hawthorne) and Quinnten Alston kicked off the start of the show for Team Hilltop in the Yearling Colts and Geldings class with a 7th place finish. Don de Lion is from Don Hill’s first US foal crop; we’re enjoying seeing the early Don Hill foal crops out showing.  Following suit in the Dixon Oval in the 2-Year Old Colts and Gelding’s class Michael Bragdell handled Marydell Farm’s colt David Bowie MF (Don Principe-Rotspon) to a 3rd place finish.  Cha Ching HTF (Contucci-Cordoba) ended his Devon in-hand career with a 4th in the 3-Year Old Colts and Geldings and a win in the USDF/GAIG Colts and Gelding Final later in the day under Michael’s guidance. Also in the 3-Year Old Colts/Geldings, Quinnten handled Rolling Stone Farm’s Shopper (Shakespeare-Widmark) to a 2nd place finish. Shopper went...
