Hilltop News Culpepper Dressage Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> The US Equestrian Leading Sire Rankings closed in mid-December and we have many exciting results to share! For the second time Marydell Farm’s Don Principe was named the Dressage Breeding Sire of the Year and for the fourth time Riverman was named Eventing Sire of the Year! Haras de Brullemail’s stallion Quite Easy is 9th for both the Jumper & Eventing Sire lists and ranks 11th on the Hunter Sire standings. Sternlicht was 2nd, Qredit 5th, and Horses Unlimited’s Pikko del Cerro was 6th for the Dressage Breeding Sire awards behind Don Principe. On the Dressage Sire List, Negro is 7th, Contucci 8th, and Olivi 10th. Royal Prince, Lord Leatherdale, Bugatti, Painted Black, and Don Principe are all in the Top 25 standings as well. The US Equestrian Sire Rankings are based on points accumulated by offspring that are recorded with the USEF and whose owners are members of USEF.  While it doesn’t account for all horses showing, it does give us the best data available on parentage verified horses that are actively competing and can be one helpful tool for all breeders evaluating offspring results. Cascade (Riverman x Hobby/Argus) received a 74 on her Mare Performance Test and is upgrading to the Premium Mare Book for ISR/Oldenburg.  Cascade’s MPT results earned Cascade her first star in the ISR/Oldenburg Star Awards program.  Last year, Cascade produced a lovely filly by Sternlicht who received an overall inspection score of 8.2 and was named Site Champion Filly.  Irena hopes Cascade will produce another premium foal completing the requirements for the Quality of Foals star. Two fun-filled days catching up with so many friends and breeders we get to see every year. One stallion was licensed – Marydell Farm’s Debonair MF (Doctor Wendell MF-Rotspon). Two mares completed the Mare Performance Test, with the Champion being Eiffel (Escudo II-Donnerwerth). A total of 15 mares were presented and inspected for breeding, including 2 sport pony mares. Twenty-one foals were also presented on Saturday. Nine foals were given the Premium Foal award. Hilltop News By Chance Dressage I & II Return to All Hilltop News >>> Despite a dismal weather forecast, Jessica Fay and Natalie Wolfer headed off to another horse show this weekend.  The wonderful volunteers and management at By Chance Farm had a big job with all the rain, but did the best possible job coping with the conditions and thankfully by Sunday we were all drying out a bit.  Jess took out two of her training horses for their first horse shows. Melanie Zentgraf’s Quite Special (Quite Easy) won his Training 1 test and placed 4th in Saturday’s Training 2.  By Sunday, he had the whole show routine down and won his Training Level Test 1 with an impressive 72%.  Michelle Robert’s homebred mare Donarsagan (Donarweiss) had a fantastic day on Saturday winning the Second Level Test 3 with a score of 71.585% and followed it up with a win on Sunday with a 77.8%  What a start to her show career! Natalie rode Jess’s homebred mare Veraki (by Riverman), winning both their Third Level Test 3 Adult Amateur classes this weekend with scores of 64% & 68% and finished off Natalie’s USDF Bronze Medal! Natalie is usually behind the scenes making sure Michael and his horses look their best so we are thrilled she got to have some fun and go show this weekend!
