2016 USDF Regional Championships

Hilltop News 2016 USDF Regional Championships Return to All Hilltop News >>> This year, we made the choice to travel to Saugerties, NY for the USDF Region 8 Finals.  The venue is fantastic at the HITS showgrounds and the NEDA team, as always, run a wonderful show. Jess Fay started things out in a great way with a 4th place for Beth Gildea’s Elizabeth’s Elan in their open Training Level test with a 68.6%. Enya’s Championship class was later that same day and her 65.4% put her in the middle of the standings.  We’re very happy with how well this 4-year old filly handled the big environment of the Saugerties venue. On Friday, Michael started off the morning with a Third Level class for Faberge Blue and Sternlicht. Faberge’s 69.69% put him in a strong 2nd place, just ahead of Sternlicht with a 69.09%. Next came the VERY large Prix St. Georges Championship for both Michael and Jess. Jess and her own Veraki finished in the top half of the class with a 64%. Michael rode Kaja Brix’s Feuerbach to 5th place with a 67.368%, and Qredit was Reserve Champion with a 69.9%. In Saturday’s Intermediate 1 Final, Jess rode Veraki to a strong finish of 67.5 and earned a wildcard score for Nationals. Qredit was Reserve Champion in the same division with a 73.5%. In a huge Third Level Championship (the class ran all day!), Michael finished 3rd with Sternlicht and 5th with Faberge Blue. Both horses scored over 71% and earned wildcards for Nationals. On Sunday, the freestyles wrapped up the show. Qredit finished 3rd in the...

Elieta (Riverman – Ariadus)

Riverman News Elieta (Riverman - Ariadus) Return to All Riverman >>> Riverman daughter, Elieta (Riverman x Uniqueka/Ariadus) has had a summer packed full of exciting accomplishments.  The 4-year old mare completed her AHHA Mare Performance Test with flying colors.  Given her pedigree, it’s no surprise that her free jumping talent was a highlight. She earned multiple scores of 8 in the free jumping portion. She finished as Reserve Champion Mare at her inspection site. Elieta is being trained as an event horse, a discipline multiple Riverman offspring have shone brightly in. In one outing at the Future Event Horse 4-Year Old level, Elieta qualified for the West Coast Future Event Horse Championships located in Woodside, California.  To qualify, Elieta finished 2nd at Future Event Horse class at Rebecca Farms with a score of 79.21.  Congratulations to owner and breeder Kathleen Benedict on Elieta’s success and best of luck at the championships! Dressage at Stone Tavern

Hilltop News Dressage at Stone Tavern Return to All Hilltop News >>> The Stone Tavern Dressage Show & Breed Show filled up the Labor Day weekend for Team Hilltop. Jessica Fay showed Beth Gildea’s 4-year old Holsteiner mare Elizabeth’s Elan (Quite Easy-Calimero) to wins in Training Level Test 3 & First Level Test 1 with scores over 70% and was High-Score at both levels on Saturday. Enya was a little tired by Sunday’s First Level test, but still placed 2nd with a 66% and was Reserve High-Score First Level for Sunday. On her first official undersaddle show outing, the three-year old Qindle HTF (Qredit-Royal Prince) placed 2nd in her Materiale class on Sunday. Jess also generously shared her mare Veraki (by Riverman) with Natalie Wolfer to show at Second Level. Natalie and Veraki won their class with a 67% and were Reserve High-Score at Second Level on Saturday. Sunday’s ride earned them a 63.97% and 3rd Place. Natalie is normally busy grooming for Michael at the shows, so it was a lot of fun to see her actually getting to enjoy riding at the show! Quinnten Alston was busy at the Breed Show on Sunday. Karen Schumaker’s Doc Marten SPF (Doctor Wendell MF-Liberty Gold) started things off well with a 2nd in the Two-Year Old Colts/Geldings class. Stetson HTF (Sternlicht-Negro) won his Yearling Colts/Geldings class and was named the Colt Champion. Quinnten’s leasing a special mare this season – Royal Celeste (Royal Classic-Diamond Hit), bred and owned by Eliza Rutherford, and Celeste had an excellent day for him winning the Three-Year Old Fillies Class, was Reserve Champion Filly, stepped...

Felicitas WF (Riverman-Laurinn)

Riverman News Felicitas WF (Riverman-Laurinn) View All Riverman News >>> Sometimes the best offspring updates we receive don’t include any show or inspection results, like this email received from Riverman breeder Emily Wyatt Baker: “I just wanted to give an update on my 2013 Riverman filly, Felicitas WF (Riverman x Romanesque/Laurinn). We had 3 foals from 2012-2014 and she was the one I decided to keep. The past few months have been very exciting! “Clove” began a 90-day program with a professional in April. I have had her back with me for about a month, and I am in love! This is my first young horse to bring along and I feel very comfortable on her. She has a great temperament and her training is coming along very nicely. We took our first day trip to school off the farm and the new environment did not faze her at all – we even went on a trail ride! She has an athletic, ground-covering trot and a really nice rhythmical canter. I can already feel us floating around a course. She was bred to be a jumper but she might have the movement and the brain for the hunter ring – I will let her decide when the time comes! I plan to take her to a couple local shows this fall as well as attend the Holsteiner inspections next year. I will update you guys again when we start showing! Give Riverman a pat for me – we are so lucky to have access to such a great Holsteiner stallion here in the US.” We frequently discuss breeding goals...
