VADA/NOVA Spring Show

Hilltop News VADA/NOVA Spring Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> April 8th-9th saw the first of our dressage shows for the Hilltop Team up north. Morven Park is always a favorite destination for us and was a perfect outing for Sternlicht and Qredit to make a move up. Sternlicht used Saturday’s FEI Test of Choice class for another of his required Prix St. Georges scores. With an overall 74.6% he easily achieved that needed result. On Sunday, Sternlicht did his first Developing Prix St. Georges test (a bit of a misnomer in naming as we feel its more demanding than the regular PSG!) and won the class with a 68.75%. This leaves only one more PSG score needed for him to finalize his Performance requirements for lifetime approval! Qredit schooled well Saturday and on Sunday made the big jump up to the Developing Grand Prix. Michael was very happy with his clean test – it was a conservative ride for their first time out at this level, but Q showed us he is ready for the added degree of difficulty.  Michael’s had Qredit since he showed him in-hand as a yearling and was the first one to ever sit on him. To watch them go from that point to the Grand Prix is a fantastic feeling for all us!  Stallion News Hilltop Archives Nov, 2010 Festrausch Moves to Cazenovia Festrausch (Florestan-Carprilli) has been an important part of the stallion line-up at Hilltop Farm since his purchase in 2000. His bloodlines, incredible movement, and elegant type stood him apart, and it is the movement and character that he passes...

Florida Season Summary for Hilltop

Hilltop News Florida Season Summary for Hilltop Return to All Hilltop News >>> Two months can go by remarkably fast! Michael Bragdell took eight horses down for winter training and showing options in Florida this year and we can hardly believe their season is already done. We keep our time in Florida shorter to allow the stallions to come home for the start of breeding season. Special highlights of this winter show season included Iris Aberbach’s Boxster A (Bugatti-Weltbekannt) earning the FEI High-Score Award at Global Dressage 3, Mitch & Lara Mitchelson’s Faberge Blue (Contango-Democraat) move up to the Developing Prix St. Georges with consistent top placings, Hilltop’s Sternlicht (Soliman de Hus-Rascalino) earning all scores of 73-78% in his FEI 7-year old and Prix St. Georges classes, and Bvlgari’s (Bordeaux-Rohdiamant) win of the Fourth Level AA class at Global 6 with owner Beth Custalow. All four of these talented horses are US-bred too! The other horses with Michael used the training time to prepare for their moves up later in the spring.  All have left Florida early this morning and we’re anxious to get everyone safely home.  Thank you to Lady Jean Ranch for sharing your beautiful facility with us, to Brookledge Horse Vans who we trust to take us to/from Florida each year, and to all the owners who took part in this Florida experience. 2016 US Dressage Finals

Hilltop News 2016 US Dressage Finals Return to All Hilltop News >>> What better end to the 2016 show season but to wrap it up with the US Dressage Finals in Lexington, KY.  Now in its 4th year, this show just gets better and better thanks to an experienced staff, enthusiastic volunteers, and generous supporters.  Thank you ALL who make this show happen! Michael took three horses to the Finals this year and came home with Top 10 finishes for all three.  Qredit Hilltop (Quaterback-Dream of Glory) placed 7th in Friday’s Intermediate I Championship and 9th in Saturday’s Intermediate Freestyle Championship.  Unfortunately, over the course of the show he was developing a cough and was feeling a bit under the weather by Sunday so we had to scratch the Prix St. Georges Championship.  He traveled home safely and is getting a bit of time off while the cough resolves. Sternlicht Hilltop (Soliman de Hus-Rascalino) placed 2nd in his warm-up class on Thursday and won the Third Level Open Championship on Friday.  This is Ziggy’s second trip to the Finals and his second National Championship!  Lara & Mitch Mitchelson’s Faberge Blue (Contango-Democraat) and Michael made the most of their 80s pop music and captured the Third Level Freestyle Open on Saturday.  You can’t help but smile as you watch this pair together and the music fits perfectly.  All three horses were born here in the US too, which makes their wins even more significant.  Congratulations to their breeders as well – Judy Yancey, Rachel Ehrlich, and Marie Emrey!
