Dressage at Stone Tavern II

Hilltop News Dressage at Stone Tavern II Return to All Hilltop News >>> Jess and Michael had a great show in New Jersey this past weekend with a lot of important results. Boxster A (Bugatti-Weltbekkant), bred/owned by Iris Aberbach, won both his FEI Test of Choice classes and was High-Score FEI on Saturday. Sternlicht (Soliman de Hus-Rascalino), bred by Rachel Ehrlich and owned by Hilltop Farm, scored 71.1% to win the Developing Prix St. Georges. Debonair MF (Doctor Wendell MF-Rotspon), bred/owned by Marydell Farm, was 2nd in the USEF 4-yr Olds both days, including earning a 7.8 overall in his qualifier. Carol McPhee’s SenSation HW (Sunday-Dancier) took in his first recognized show and won the 4-yr old tests both days with great comments from the judges. It was an especially big weekend for Anne Howard’s Finery (Furstenball-Diamond Hit). He earned an 8.04 in his 2nd time out in the FEI 6-yr olds. This score should qualify him for the US Young Horse Championships and that will fulfill his lifetime sport requirements for both the GOV and ISR/Oldenburg! Jess and Hilltop’s homebred mare Quinzy (Qredit-Cordoba) continued their winning streak. Competing this time at Training Level, they swept all their classes with scores in the 70’s and were High-Score Training Level both days. Virginia Summer Breed Show

Hilltop News Virginia Summer Breed Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> The lovely Culpepper show grounds was the site of our next Breed Show outing on June 17th.  Only two youngsters from Hilltop shipped down with Quinnten Alston. Savannah HTF (Sternlicht-Royal Prince) was more settled than she had been in her first show a week ago and we were pleased with her 2nd place in the Yearling Fillies class with a 75.8% and 4th in the Hanoverian IBC.  The two-year old Stetson HTF (Sternlicht-Negro) acts like an old show horse and confidently won the Two-Year Old Colts & Geldings class with a 76%, was Reserve Champion Colt/Gelding, and was 2nd in the Hanoverian IBC.  All our young ones get a nice break now from showing. Congratulations to all the owners that Quinnten handled for throughout the show. ESDCTA Memorial Day Weekend Shows

Hilltop News ESDCTA Memorial Day Weekend Shows Return to All Hilltop News >>> Team Hilltop had a super time at the ESDCTA Memorial Day Weekend Shows at the New Jersey Horse Park.  It’s apparent they’ve put a lot of work into managing the footing from previous years and the volunteers are wonderful. In the Breed Show, the yearling fillies Colette HTF (Contucci-Royal Prince) and Shiraz HTF (Sternlicht-Negro) couldn’t have been better behaved for their first show. Colette won the Yearling Fillies class, was Reserve Champion Filly, Reserve Champion Young Horse, and was 2nd in the AHS class on Day 1 and 3rd in the Yearling Fillies class on Day 2. Shiraz, owned by Patricia Hovington, was 2nd in the Yearling Fillies and 3rd in the Filly Championship on both days and won the AHS class on Saturday. Continuing with our homebreds, Jess Fay had a great outing with the Qredit mares Quinzy HTF (ds. Cordoba) and Qindle HTF (ds. Royal Prince). Qindle placed 5th in her Training Level 2 class with a 65% on Saturday and was 1st & 2nd in her Training 2 & 3 classes with scores of 67% on Sunday. Quinzy had a big weekend, winning all four of her First Level Tests and being High-Score of the show on both Saturday & Sunday with scores of 75% & 77.5% Michael Bragdell took three stallions up for their USEF Qualifiers. VADA/NOVA Spring Show

Hilltop News VADA/NOVA Spring Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> April 8th-9th saw the first of our dressage shows for the Hilltop Team up north. Morven Park is always a favorite destination for us and was a perfect outing for Sternlicht and Qredit to make a move up. Sternlicht used Saturday’s FEI Test of Choice class for another of his required Prix St. Georges scores. With an overall 74.6% he easily achieved that needed result. On Sunday, Sternlicht did his first Developing Prix St. Georges test (a bit of a misnomer in naming as we feel its more demanding than the regular PSG!) and won the class with a 68.75%. This leaves only one more PSG score needed for him to finalize his Performance requirements for lifetime approval! Qredit schooled well Saturday and on Sunday made the big jump up to the Developing Grand Prix. Michael was very happy with his clean test – it was a conservative ride for their first time out at this level, but Q showed us he is ready for the added degree of difficulty.  Michael’s had Qredit since he showed him in-hand as a yearling and was the first one to ever sit on him. To watch them go from that point to the Grand Prix is a fantastic feeling for all us!  Stallion News Hilltop Archives Jan, 2015 Royal Prince (1999 – 2015) It is with a broken heart that we share the news of Royal Prince’s passing this week. Florida Season Summary for Hilltop

Hilltop News Florida Season Summary for Hilltop Return to All Hilltop News >>> Two months can go by remarkably fast! Michael Bragdell took eight horses down for winter training and showing options in Florida this year and we can hardly believe their season is already done. We keep our time in Florida shorter to allow the stallions to come home for the start of breeding season. Special highlights of this winter show season included Iris Aberbach’s Boxster A (Bugatti-Weltbekannt) earning the FEI High-Score Award at Global Dressage 3, Mitch & Lara Mitchelson’s Faberge Blue (Contango-Democraat) move up to the Developing Prix St. Georges with consistent top placings, Hilltop’s Sternlicht (Soliman de Hus-Rascalino) earning all scores of 73-78% in his FEI 7-year old and Prix St. Georges classes, and Bvlgari’s (Bordeaux-Rohdiamant) win of the Fourth Level AA class at Global 6 with owner Beth Custalow. All four of these talented horses are US-bred too! The other horses with Michael used the training time to prepare for their moves up later in the spring.  All have left Florida early this morning and we’re anxious to get everyone safely home.  Thank you to Lady Jean Ranch for sharing your beautiful facility with us, to Brookledge Horse Vans who we trust to take us to/from Florida each year, and to all the owners who took part in this Florida experience.
