Dressage at Dunmovin’
On September 9th Michael took two horses up to Dunmovin’ Farm in West Chester, PA for a quick warm-up outing. Sternlicht produced a forward, accurate First Level Test 3 that easily scored a 71% and was a good kick-off for his fall shows. Jane had just arrived back home the day before, but was able to come watch Sternlicht’s ride. Kaja Brix’s Feuerbach is prepping for Dressage at Devon and with Michael won his Fourth Level Test 3 with a 70%. Only one day to rest up at Hilltop now before we head over to Morven Park for the weekend.
Ten weeks following a surgery that was intended to prolong and sustain the quality of life for the 19-year old Holsteiner stallion, Hilltop Farm lost their founding sire Cabaret on October 28, 1999. An arthrocentesis was performed on the right front fetlock of the stallion in order to" fuse" the fetlock and create relief for a failing suspensory apparatus.
Once again we made the long drive out to the beautiful Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL for the Markel/USEF Young Horse Championships. Michael qualified two horses for the Championships this year.
Hilltop Articles & Interviews
For many Warmblood enthusiasts, just the mention of the famous stallion Riverman is enough to send chills down their spines. The stunning grey Holsteiner, who currently stands at stud at Hilltop Farm in Colora, Maryland, was the Reserve Champion at his stallion licensing, and was a Verband stallion in Germany for the first part of his life.
The manicured grounds of the Lamplight Equestrian Center were superb as was the quality of the equine competitors at the 2009 Markel/United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) National Young Horse Dressage Championships and the 2009 USEF National Developing Horse Dressage Championship, sponsored by the Dutta Corporation and Performance Sales International.
