The Horses of Hilltop Farm
While the stallions have long been at the heart of Hilltop Farm, we also are proud of our broodmares, young prospects, and performance horses. They often represent multiple generations of our own breeding program and each has their own strengths and unique qualities that they bring. The journey from the Young Horse tests into the FEI arena is a long one, so we celebrate each milestone along the way with our horses and look forward to developing their careers to the fullest. We invite you to meet more of our horses below.
HPM Balissa HTF
Bugatti – Contucci – Caribo
Balissa is clearly one of Jane’s favorite horses. Her imposing presence is balanced with a kind nature and generous character that offers 100% in everything she’s asked. Balissa won the AHS Year-End award for the Four-Year Old division and placed 2nd in the USDF Horse of the Year standings at First Level. She’s shown up to Fourth Level and offered an exceptional talent for the piaffe/passage work. Balissa is now a part of Hilltop’s broodmare band.
Kevekko – Wellington – Argus
Brooklyn has one of the most important jobs on the farm. She has taken on the duties as our tease mare at Hilltop. Brooklyn’s wonderful temperament and easy-going nature make her an absolute pleasure to be around and the boys all enjoy seeing her in the breeding shed on a regular basis. She’s very patient with young stallions as they are learning too! Thank you to Marie Emrey and Lazy J Sporthorses for making this wonderful mare available to us.
Contucci – Cordoba – Weltmeyer
Chiquita HTF is the oldest daughter of our treasured mare EM Comtesse (aka Cha Cha) who earned an overal 8.06 at her MPT, was trained to FEI levels, and was Reserve Grand Champion of Dressage at Devon. Chiquita was Top Filly of her AHS Inspection and was the Champion Foal of Devon in 2008. With her first three foals, Chiquita has proven herself an outstanding broodmare and we’re looking forward to her continuing this mare line for our breeding program. She is in-foal to Widmark for 2018.
Contucci – Royal Prince – Parabol
Tall, athletic, and with an excellent character, we were very excited to welcome this filly in 2016. Colette is a third generation of Hilltop’s breeding program and from one of our strongest producing mare lines. She was Reserve Champion Filly & Young Horse at her first show in 2017. The future looks bright for this beautiful filly.
Caprimond – Lungau – Akzent II
Contucci’s early talent was showcased when he commandingly won the dressage phase of his 100-day test with a score of 147.11 including earning six scores of 9. The gaits and rideability that were Contucci’s mark, also make his offspring standouts. USEF National Champions, USDF Horse of the Year winners, and countless Breed Show & Inspection Champions are just the beginning of Contucci’s legacy with Hilltop Farm.
HPC Qindle HTF
Qredit – Royal Prince – Parabol
Qindle has always captivated us. As a two-year old, she won her class in Dressage at Devon. In 2016, she was Champion of her Mare Performance Test and named an Elite Mare Candidate with the AHS and a Premium Mare with ISR/Oldenburg. At age four she was very successful at Training Level including placing 5th at the very large USDF Region 8 Finals. She is in-foal to For Romance for 2018.
Quaterback – Dream of Glory – Rubinstein I
Qredit caught our eye at an early age and Hilltop Farm was fortunate to purchase him as a coming two-year old. Qredit was winner of his 70-Day Stallion Test earning exceptional scores for gaits and rideability. He was Reserve Champion of the US Young Horse Championships at four, has won the US Dressage Finals at Intermediate II, and is now winning at Grand Prix. He has shown a strong stamp on the movement of his offspring and they are consistent winners in-hand and undersaddle.
Qredit – Cordoba – Weltmeyer
Quinzy is from our stallion Qredit’s first foalcrop and we’ve retained her to develop as a competition horse in the coming years. She is a big mare with a lot of power and expression to her gaits. She made her undersaddle debut in the fall of her 3-year old year and won the 3-Year Old Materiale at Devon in only her second outing. She’s had an excellent record at Training & First Levels with median year-end scores over 70%. At six, she made her Third Level debut with a score of 73% and we’re very excited with her continued progression.
EM Raja HTF
Royal Prince – Parabol – Consul
Raja represents a second generation of Hilltop’s breeding program. Her dam, the Premium Oldenburg mare Parlez (Parabol – Consul), was an excellent producer for Hilltop Farm including producing one licensed stallion. Raja is an Elite Mare with the AHS and a Premium Mare with ISR/OldenburgNA. Her offspring are consistently among our favorites each year and are winning in both the hunter and dressage arenas. Raja is in-foal to Olivi for 2018.
EM Raj Mahal HTF
Royal Prince – Donnerhall – Pik Koenig
Raj Mahal is the only daughter in the US of the exceptional mare Primavera who was the 1992 Champion of the Oldenburg Elite Mare Show, winner of the Riding Championships at Rastede, and was third at the Bundeschampionat. Raj Mahal’s rideability and canter are exceptional. She is an Elite Mare with the AHS and a Premium Mare with ISR/Oldenburg. She’s produced four special foals for us so far. Raj Mahal is in-foal to Negro for 2018.
Royal Prince – Cordoba – Weltmeyer
As the last daughter of our wonderful mare EM Comtesse (aka Cha Cha), Relevè holds a special place in everyone’s heart here at Hilltop Farm. In 2014, she placed 2nd at Dressage at Devon in the Yearling Fillies class and was the Reserve Champion for USDF Horse of the Year standings for her age group. Relevè also won the AHS National Futurity and was the High-Scoring Hanoverian Mare at her AHS Inspection in 2016 with an overall 7.83 points. Her first foal, by Qredit, was Reserve Champion for the USDF East Coast Foal Championships in 2017.
Redfort – Landego – Calypso II
No other stallion has likely been as synonymous with Hilltop Farm as Riverman. This exceptional sire’s legacy is secure by the success of his offspring at the highest levels in sport – Grand Prix jumpers and dressage horses, Advanced Level eventers and driving horses, International Competitors in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Riverman has had a remarkable impact on North American breeding and Hilltop Farm’s development.
Sternlicht – Royal Prince – Donnerhall
An exquisite type and light, lofty movement earned this special girl the Top Filly honors at her AHS Inspection. Savannah has all the quality we look for in both a performance and breeding prospect, so we just had to retain her for our program. She’s been successful in-hand as a young horse and is maturing into a leggy, beautiful young mare that we look forward to starting undersaddle in 2019.
Soliman de Hus – Rascalino – Wesley
Bred by our longtime friend Rachel Ehrlich, Sternlicht continues our recent focus on US-bred stallion prospects. He is a stunning example of the modern sport horse type and his pedigree offered new lines for our breeders. Sternlicht won the US Dressage Finals at First & Third Levels, finished 3rd in the USEF Young Horse Championships at age 6, and is now winning at Prix St. Georges/Intermediate I. His first foal crops have been very well received at Breed inspections and Dressage Sport Horse shows.
Sternlicht – Negro – Fruhling
We are very excited about this tall, athletic youngster from Sternlicht’s first foal crop. Stetson has three very high-quality gaits and is naturally well-balanced and always uphill. He was named Reserve Champion colt at his AHS Inspection. In 2017, he won the USDF East Coast Colts/Geldings Championship and placed 1st for AHS Year-End Awards. Stetson is now started undersaddle and we look forward to his future show career.
Uforia (reg. Unicum-D)
Negro – Fruhling – Liberto
At Hilltop Farm we believe strongly in broodmares proving themselves in sport. Under Nick Wagman, Uforia quickly climbed the dressage ranks. In 2008, she competed at the USEF Intermediaire National Championships and the following year she debuted at Grand Prix at only 8 years of age. Hilltop Farm acquired Uforia in 2010 for our broodmare herd. Her first four foals (by Qredit, Sternlicht, & Lord Leatherdale) have been exceptional with numerous awards already on their records.
Hamlet – Burggraaf – Amor
Witness was purchased by Hilltop Farm in 2011. Under Jane’s ownership, he has competed twice at the USEF Festival of Champions, won a Team Gold Medal in the Wellington CDIO3* Nations Cup, and was the USDF Region 1 Champion at Intermediaire II and Reserve Champion at Grand Prix in 2015. Witness’s bright, cheerful character has endeared him to everyone at Hilltop and we’re looking forward to his continued showing in the Grand Prix ring.

Winner of the dressage phase of his 70-Day test with 140 points, Bugatti also competed at the Bundeschampionat, the World Championships for Young Horses, and CDI competitions in both Europe and the United States. Bugatti’s dam also produced the Olympic and WEG competitor Santana. Bugatti offspring inherit his natural athleticism, willing attitude, and sensible character. Bugatti now stands privately for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Cor de la Bryere – Landgraf I – Consul
Only a stallion possessing Cabaret’s tremendous depth of character could inspire a place like Hilltop Farm. His magnificent spirit and awesome athleticism captured Jane MacElree’s heart. Cabaret is the full brother to Corlandus, one of the world’s leading dressage horses in the 80’s who earned multiple medals and Championships under Margit Otto-Crepin. Cabaret’s accomplishments included over 14 National Championship titles.

He jumped his way to more championship titles in Detroit, South Hampton, and Port Jervis. He had a beautiful face, a strong and nicely coupled topline, and a pedigree that dictated his capability to jump. Cordini’s kind, generous character made him a perfect schoolmaster.
Cor de la Bryere – Marmor – Matador
Cor Noir’s power and dynamic athleticism, along with his undeniable presence was first demonstrated during his impressive performances in Materiale classes in Germany and in his 100-day testing. He finished the testing with a score of 123 points, earning him the Class 1 distinction. Cor Noir’s offspring excel not only in the dressage ring as their sire did, but are also competing in jumpers and eventing as the Cor de la Bryere genetics shine through.
Florestan I – Carprilli – Wappenschhild

Shown early in his career in materiale and Young Horse classes, Festrausch earned high scores against his peers including a fourth place finish at the FEI World Championships for Young Horses. Festrausch was trained into the FEI levels before focusing on his breeding duties. He spent his last years as the resident stallion for Cazenovia College.
Joost – Maykel
Giotto exhibited the versatility and outstanding rideability represented in his pedigree. Giotto is by Joost, a preferant Holsteiner stallion in the Dutch breeding program. Giotto’s damsire Maykel produced Anky Van Grunsven’s international Grand Prix dressage horse, Gestion Idool. Giotto has a strong and powerful presence and he moves with notable grace and fluidity.
Hawthorne was the son of the late Olympic Cocktail, one of Holland’s notable Grand Prix dressage horses. Hawthorne’s career as a stallion began with his importation to the US in 1993. Over 80 percent of Hawthorne’s offspring were ranked with premium titles, displaying a type and movement consistent with their sire. Hawthorne’s dressage career steadily developed to the FEI level.
Paradox I – Waldschuetz – Lachs
Parabol won his Stallion Performance Testing with an overall score of 140 points and was titled Champion of Oldenburg as a 4-year old. Parabol had a successful jumping career before switching to the dressage arena. He earned the USDF Horse of the Year title at Third Level, was short-listed for the 1994 Pan American Team, and competed successfully up through Grand Prix. Parabol’s offspring show the same athletic diversity and have excelled in multiple disciplines.
Riverman – Caretino – Landgraf I
Reno’s scope, carefulness, and technique pointed him towards the jumper ring. In 2000, Reno swept all three divisions of the Mid-West International Jumper Futurity Finals. Reno traveled directly to the 100-Day Stallion Performance Testing and was proclaimed Reserve Champion. He earned numerous 9s, including ones for his character, temperament, and ability to work. Reno continued to compete up to Grand Prix.

Rohdiamant – Prince Thatch xx – Wenzel II
Royal Prince still holds the distinction of being the highest placed US-owned horse in history with his 4th place finish at the World Championships for Young Horses in 2004. He maintained his elasticity and purity of movement as he trained up to the FEI levels. Royal Prince consistently passed along his refinement, correctness, and rideability to his offspring. His daughters remain a treasured part of our breeding program. Thankfully, a good supply of frozen semen will continue his influence for years to come.
Joost – Abgar

His illustrious career under riders Steve Stephens and Debbie Dolan include Grand Prix victories and top placings at Aachon, Rome, Hickstead, Calgary, Toronto, Mexico, and New York.
