First Foal of 2010 Arrives!
Congratulations to Cynthia Lydon of Taylorsville, CA. Her Thoroughbred mare Count the Ounces delivered the first of the foals to arrive this season on January 21st. “He is a bay colt with 2 hind socks and a star. He and mom and doing well. Of course, our power had to be off due to the massive storms we have had recently...It went off around 1 am before his was born and didn't come on until very late the last night...so of no use were all the electric IR heaters I had for her stall!” This colt is by the Grand Prix stallion Tiamo Trocadero, who stood at Hilltop Farm as a Guest Stallion from 2006-2008 and was conceived through frozen semen. Nabucco Boy (Cabaret x Dollar Girl II)
I contacted you 3 years ago about my Selle Francais horse named Nabucco Boy by Cabaret. I see a picture of him on your website (young horse jumping free at the bottom left of the Cabaret page). I am very pleased to see that you liked the picture. I just wanted to update you about Nabucco’s competition results in France. He is now 8 yo. He qualified for the French Dressage Amateur Championship this year at Saumur. He shows great abilities in passage and he is extremely keen in pleasing the rider. Although we are still competing at a low level, we plan to qualify again for the championships next year possibly at a higher level if the winter training session goes well. ~ Regards, Albane Leoncini (owner and rider) (Posted 1/26/10)

Sorry this email is a bit late, but wanted to inform you that our colt "Diego" Distinguished Gentlemen was Site Champion Foal of the Chestnut Lawn Oldenburg N.A. inspection. Diego is by Donarweiss GGF out of our Arabian Mare, who is Main Mare Book approved. His scores were very impressive with an 8.2 for type, 8.6 for movement, 8.3 overall with a total of 8.4. I think everyone was a bit shocked to have the site Champion foal come from an Arabian mare to tell you the truth..... I am enclosing a picture of him, thank you for all your wonderful help in breeding this SUPER colt. ~ Dr. and Mrs. Judd, AmeriBrit Farm (Posted 1/6/10)

Cavenaugh
I wanted to share with everyone at Hilltop that while Cabaret has passed on, his offspring are still giving 100%. In 2009 I earned my USDF bronze Medal all the way on the Cabaret colt Cavenaugh. I purchased him in-utero and the two of us have learned dressage together. Cavenaugh has overcome many obstacles including a broken right front coffin bone sustained in the pasture that set us back a year. I hope we will be able to earn our silver medal together in the future. ~Tracey Thompson (Posted 11/2/09)

Currituck (Contucci x Casa Blanca/Cabaret)
I asked Janeen Langowski-Grava, the trainer, and Sue Desimpel, the owner, of Currituck if I could share with you at Hilltop Farm how well they did last week at the Regionals. ~ Don Kapper (Currituck’s breeder)
Here is what Sue had to say:
'You would have been proud of Tucker this past week. He was awesome. We had a long trip there on Tuesday. It took about 8-9 hours. Rested on Wednesday. On Thursday his first class he placed 1st out of about 13 entries with a score of 70.000%. Friday he placed 5th out of about 13 or so entries with a 68%. The Championship class had 30 entries and placed 9th with a 67.60.’

I just wanted to let you know that our 2009 filly by Royal Prince out of Reminisce/Renaissance was Premium foal, AND highest scoring foal at the ISR/Oldenburg NA inspection at the Georgia Horse Park on Sept. 26, 2009. Following is a clip from the inspection: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6juhmQvdYM
ALSO, our full sibling to this filly, Rosser MWF, born in 2008, went to the Southeast USDFBC Championships in Ocala, FL where he placed 4th OVERALL in the colts/geldings weanlings thru 3 year olds. Several people told me he should have gotten first, but oh well, what do you do?! Ross (aka Rosser MWFm 2008 colt) has been SUCH an exceptional pupil that we have decided to keep him as a prospective dressage horse for Meredith. (Posted 10/8/09)

The 3-Judge Panel paid particular attention to Encore, his development and conformation. (Posted 10/2/09)

He is awesome on cross country and dressage , loves to show off and has a fan club. No one forgets him after they see him. He is owned by Lynne Partridge and bred by me. Contucci has a great opportunity as an eventing sire. ----- UPDATE They were clear in stadium and WON!!!! Bocelli (Bugatti x Passem Princess xx)
Owned/Bred by Kathryn McFadden
I just wanted to send you a brief update on Bocelli. He is 26 months old now. I brought him home yesterday from the trainer. He was there to get started under saddle and begin his training. Well, I rode him yesterday walk, trot, canter. He was fantastic!! So sensible and calm. It almost felt like riding an adult horse. So easy to ride; I was just blown away. (Posted 8/27/09)
Risacci (Riverman x Phaedra/Parabol)
Just a note to let you know that Risacci was hack champion last week in the Trillium Division at Westar in Ottawa. She swept all three classes. She was also Champion Mare, and earned a Mare of Distinction award at her Oldenburg Inspection this week. I have included a picture of her with her fabulous blue ribbon on!
Also wanted to let you know that my current year filly (by Bugatti) went to a show last weekend with her Mom and sisters, they did great!!! Bella scored a 77%. My 2 year old filly Royal Highness (by Royal Prince) did wonderful she scored a 80% and was reserve champ both days. She only lost to two stallions (a different one both days) .... She was Filly Champ and also young horse Champ both days. We are very pleased with both offspring. I will let you know what we fine as we break them to ride.... My daughter can not wait to get on Royal Highness next year! ~ Kaye Triplett (Posted 8/19/09)
Bertone VT (Bugatti)

He was first in his Training Level Test 2 class (71.79%) and second in the Stallions and Geldings 4/u U/S class, under his 16 year old rider, Megan Joness. Megan's dad tells me no one else has ever sat on the horse other than his daughter. That sure says alot about the talent and rideability of this 4YO Bugatti Hilltop son! (Posted 8/19/09)
Comic Son
After having her accident, our young rider Anna is allowed to ride again since 3 weeks ago.
She recently showed Comic's oldest offspring, a 4 year old stallion, in a
Young Riding Horse class. He won it with ease, receiving a minimum of 8 in each individual score. With this he qualified for the selections in Verden for the German
Bundeschampionat. ~ Johannes Brinkmann (Posted 8/19/09)
Remington Steel (Riverman x Shady’s Gold)
Bred/owned by Kim Biggs
I was fortunate enough to lease a nice mare (Shady's Gold) to breed to Riverman and had a grey foal in 2006 that was high point colt at his Oldenburg inspection (you had a photo of him on your website). He was started under saddle late this spring and our trainer, Brian Bodarke convinced me to enter Remington in a sport horse breed show class. Remington placed second with a score of 82.3 this past Friday and was reserve champion at Golden State Dressage Warm Up I and placed first with a score of 76.7 on Saturday at Warm Up/Cool Down and won the colt championship (3 and under). Jens Richter was the handler each time. ~ Kim Biggs (Posted 8/6/09)
Bentley (Bugatti Hilltop x Mirage/Art Deco)
Bred/owned by Teri Duewer
Just thought you'd be delighted to hear how my Bugatti colt, Bentley, did at his USDF Breeders' Championship class this weekend. He took Champion over 7 stallions with a score of 83.4, and his mother earned Reserve mare in the mares/fillies class with a score of 76.45. They both qualified, although I'd rather take the Royal Prince filly in September, rather than the broodmare, to see how she will score. They allow qualifying for the Finals at the actual Finals class itself, so I think I will try to take Velvet come September. I am very proud of both my Hilltop babies, and thought you would be, too. ~ Teri Duewer (Posted 8/6/09)

I purchased him as a long yearling and have been doing trail walks in hand for 2 years. He lives in a 2 acre pasture by day & night with a large stall to go in to at will. He is the nicest horse I have ever met!!! My husband and I both love him! I have never seen him with his ears back. He is just so kind. I have ridden 5 or 6 times now, and we are ready to graduate to his custom saddle, bridle and show whites. (our ranch is red dirt :( )Great place for a young one but don't use white every day :( Will send more info as we progress. I continue to spread the good word about Bugatti and his great mind! Balmoral (Bugatti x Princess Nancy xx)
Bred and owned by Didi Callahan
Balmoral has been outstanding this spring and has managed to qualify for championships in 2 different sports in 3 weeks!. Her wins at Training 3 (71.6%) and Training 4 (70.0% ) at Fair Hill Dressage qualified her for the BLM and ABIG area finals. She also won at Novice eventing (on a 24 - best score of the entire competition) which qualified her for the American Eventing Championships and the Area II Championships. And finally, she also got a score of 77 to qualify for the Young Event Horse Championships. She also completed ( and won) her first unrecognized training event, and we are moving up in late July to Training level and hope to qualify for the Training 3 day in October. Private Label
Parabol x Roc’s Paper Tiger; bred by Natalie Prentice
I feel compelled to share with you what an exemplary personality my Parabol yearling possesses as I know that it will translate into show ring success later in his life. I took these photos this past weekend while on a 'field trip' to the barn owner's cross country course. Luke was PERFECT and handled each new challenge (jumping logs, going up and down the elephant steps, through the water jump, etc.) without hesitation or anxiety.
The final challenge was that we invited him to go swimming in the pond. It has a sandy beach but very quickly reaches swimming depth. As you can see, not only did Luke handle the pond with panache but also stayed calm and cool while the farm's dogs and the dogs of some visitors joined in the fun. A total of 8 dogs (two of them six month old puppies) dived in barking and splashing and chasing each other around. Luke watched them for a minute and then went back to his own game of dunking his face in the water and walking back into the deeper water to have an excuse to paddle around a bit himself. Our visitors were stunned at how nonplussed he was by the craziness going on around him and we were all secretly impressed too ;) So, a great brain to go with that beautiful face! We're really looking forward to starting his formal education in the future. Please give Parabol an extra peppermint for me and tell him he's got another good one out there. ~ Natalie Prentice (Posted 7/2/09)
Currituck
Contucci x Casa Blanca (Cabaret – Caribo); bred by Outer Banks Farm; owned by Susan Desimpel
Currituck (Tucker) has had a great start to his Dressage career. So far he has scored very well in his first two A rated shows.
WPDA SUMMER DRESSAGE CLASSIC:
- INTRO B 70.00% 1ST PLACE
- TRAINING 1 67.826% 1ST PLACE
DRESSAGE AT GRAND HAVEN
- TRAINING 1 66.957% 1ST PLACE
- TRAINING 4 68.800% 4TH PLACE
DRESSAGE DERBY 2009
- TRAINING 4 68.000% 1ST PLACE
- TRAINING 4 64.800% 5TH PLACE
In 2 shows he is already qualified for Regionals in Training level 4. He is a great horse. No one can believe he is only 4. His first trail ride was a non-jumping hunter pace. He had to lead the older horse through the mud and over a bridge. Thanks to Don and Dee Kapper for breeding such a nice horse. ~ Sue Desimpel (Posted 7/2/09)
Contucci, Royal Prince, and Royal Appearance
Hello! I hope this email finds you well. We are anxiously awaiting Ariane's 2009 foal by Royal Prince! I must share that Corabelle, Raina and Raphael are just fabulous. I absolutely love what Contucci and Royal Prince have done for our program!
BW-Regal Reception is now in formal training and doing extremely well. In two weeks or so, I will be sending a new photo of Raina at her first show. Raina is absolutely one of my favorite rides of the day! ~ Linda Santomenna (Posted 6/5/09)
Royalty
(Royal Prince x Laneigh) bred by Karan Schwencer
I hope Spring finds you well and busy in the horse world. Just a note to let you know Royalty has been sold. I appreciate Hilltop’s posting her sales info, I did receive some quality buyers, ultimately she was sold by word of mouth from an area judge. She will reside in Ohio. She does have a full brother who is two this year, tallish with 4 white socks. The trainer who started Ro, is on her 2nd Royal Prince and can’t say enough about the “willing to work attitude”. She loved Royalty. Warm regards, Karan Schwencer (Posted 6/5/09)
Rohan
(Royal Prince x Special) bred by Anne Schafer; owned by Rosemary Jones
Just a note to let you know that my baby scored an 80.7% in Training 2 at his first club show. He is going to his first recognized show the last weekend in June. He is a most wonderful child. He fractured a metacarpal bone last summer in pasture and finally had surgery to remove it. He was laid up a total of 6 months with some complications. He just really started to work this February. Jim Koford is my mentor and thinks he shows great promise for FEI work. My wonderful 22 year old FEI hanoverian has been unridable with old injury issues for about 2 years and it is just super to have such a nice baby to start. Hope all your foals are doing well and you are having a wonderful spring. By the way, Rohan is still a great cow horse when we need to move the brood cows around. ~ Rosemary Jones (Posted 6/5/09)
Promises Kept
Parabol x RD Muscatera) bred by Wanda Kuester; owned by Janet Tisch
I just wanted to pass along some information on a wonderful Parabol daughter I acquired 18 months ago. Her name is Promises Kept out of the Arabian mare, RD Muscatera, (who passed the Oldenburg Inspection as a Premium Mare). “Promises” is registered as both an Oldenburg and a Half-Arabian and has matured into a lovely, very correct six year old mare.
I purchased Promises from Wanda Kuester after the untimely death of my 12 year old Arabian Gelding. Wanda had no intention of ever selling her, however, as a client and friend of the Kuester’s, I had developed a relationship with the mare during the two year illness of my gelding, and things just fell into place. The Kuester’s have retained breeding rights to Promises and she continues to live at their training facility.
I have followed whatever information you have on your website about Parabol and his offspring and I just wanted to let you know that Promises has exceeded all my expectations of what a dressage horse and equine companion should be. She looks very much like her sire (just a smaller version) has lovely gaits, and is forward, willing, very smart and absolutely fearless. (She also has a sense of humor and I wonder if she inherited it from her sire!) I am very interested in any information you can provide me about Parabol, especially insight into his personality and the breeding success of his daughters.
I just wanted to let you know that another of Parabol’s progeny has made an indelible mark in the life of one woman from Altamonte Springs, FL. In addition to my gratitude to Wanda Kuester for selling Promises to me, I want to express my regard to you for standing such a remarkable stallion. ~ Janet Tisch (Posted 6/5/09)
Riverman Gelding
We are Holsteiner breeders in California....I got a turning three y/o RIVERMAN gelding in training at the beginning of April, and am pleased to report that he is one very handsome guy, and is taking to his early training quite nicely. We are looking at a couple of breed shows for him this summer, so the Riverman name will be seen and heard from in the coming months. ~ Brian Bodarke, Blue Ribbon Breeding (Posted 6/5/09)
Roanoke/Slate River
(Riverman x Etoile) bred by Elizabeth Callahan
On page 78 of the Chronicle of the Horse (Rolex issue), is a picture of the 1998 East Coast Foal Champion for ISR. He is by Riverman, out of the Selle Francais mare Etoile. He just won the Poplar Place CIC**, and has won another Intermediate division this winter and hopes to go advanced this summer. I bred him and he was named Roanoke (now showing as Slate River). Thought you might like to add this to Riverman's resume! ~ Didi Callahan (Posted 6/5/09)

| Carnegie | Calimar |
Carnegie, Cooper, & Calimar
(Contucci x Vodka Gimlet - Martini) bred by Zada Steidl; owned by Claire Darnell
Carnegie and I just returned from our successful CDI tour, competing at the Lamplight and Kentucky Dressage Association CDI competitions. We took his 4-year-old full brother, Cooper, along as well to give him more show experience. Carnegie placed in the top four in five of our six CDI classes against stiff competition, with scores of 64 and 65% in the Intermediaire I. These were our first CDI competitions, and there is still much room for improvement, so I am thrilled with Carnegie's success and excited for his future.
Cooper was a star as well, and qualified for the USEF/Markel 4-year-old Championship in Lexington with a score of 7.46. He is coming along extremely well in his training and already shows promise for his future at the FEI levels.
Their other brother, 7-year-old Calimar, is currently schooling the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I at home and will be ready to show this fall. ~ Claire Darnell (Posted 6/5/09)
Sailaway
(Riverman x Gephallen Mir) bred by Wendy Staub; owned by Kelly Kaiser
I'm the owner of "Sailaway" the horse you mentioned in the "Riverman" ad. I just want to let you know he is the best horse I've ever had, sweet and truly my friend. I show him in the A/O's and he's so must fun. ~ Kelly Kaiser (Posted 6/2/09)
Bianca GGF
(Bugatti x SPS Highlight-Hohenstein) bred by Greengate Farm; owned by Susan Mercer
We had pretty decent weather for an early spring show in Marshfield, MA. - which was helpful because the atmosphere was poppin'. There were more loose horses than I ever remember at a dressage show! A few ring markers blew over, along with most of the concession stand.... Bianca needed some longeing, as my sister Cary said I was "flying a horse kite"! Anyhow, we did First Level Test 4 both days and got just about the same results each day: 66.8% and 66.5%, first place for Adult Amateurs each day and 4th place overall for each day. We were beaten by a couple of professionals and young riders. Overall class size was about 22 and 18. Just need one more 62% or better score to qualify for the first level year-end championships in Saugerties NY.If things go as planned we will try some second level later in the season. Enjoy the sun and flowers - best to all - Sue (Posted 5/18/09)
Beau Visage SDF
(Bugatti Hilltop x Evita SDF); bred & owned by Sheri Evers-Rock

I can't believe that I forgot to tell you that I have been blessed to be riding my Bugatti youngster, "Bogart", and he is a dreamboy! He slaps a smile on my face every time, and he loves doing his job. Nobody can believe he is just four with such little time backed. We are being very careful with his training, he would be soooo easy to push too much, I think he has wonderful potential. I LOVE HIM. ~ Charlotte Roseberg (Posted 4/13/09)

El Cid
(Contucci x Madrigal); bred by Kim Allen; owned by Lynn Partridge
El Cid is now six (almost) and I compete him as an eventer. I just recently returned from Florida where I moved him up to the Preliminary level the first of the 'Upper Levels' He won his first show at that level. He then went on to place, 5th, 2nd, and 4th in the next three shows. Last year, 2008, He was Training Horse of the year for Area V, this is Texas, Oklahoma and the western portion of Louisiana.
He is a lovely big (about 17.3hh) liver chestnut horse with a fabulous brain, he is a lovely mover, always has a good dressage score and is a good jumper. He very brave and careful on the cross country course. Last year he was 5th in the Young Event Horse competition Championship held at the American Eventing Championships which took place in Illinois. He will compete in his first FEI CIC* in May this year. ~ Lynne Partridge (Posted 4/7/09)
