7/22/10 Inspection Results

The first inspection results are rolling in and big congratulations go out to Barbara McKnew on her Popeye colt Picasso LG being named Champion of his North American Sport Pony Registry inspection in PA.

At the AHS Inspection at Delaware Valley College, Kim Callaway had a great day presenting her colts and her 2010 Contucci colt was named Top Foal for the day.  “I wanted to let you know that my Contucci x Tiadora colt, Cartier CF, was named best foal at the PA inspection!  Dr. Christmann said he has a lot of presence, a good topline, he was uphill and had good self-carriage.  He also loved his neck and said he had a very good walk.  Cartier certainly got a lot of attention. My Bugatti colt, Bulgari CF, I think was a little foot sore from dry, hard ground, so he didn't trot to his fullest potential.  Comments for him were "better hind end than mom," and "very elastic walk with big strides."”

Katelyn Hillborn attended the same AHS Inspection and sent this wonderful update on her Donarweiss colt out of her beautiful Dutch mare.  We all want our foals to have this temperament!Just wanted to let you know how inspection went! From the very start, I've LOVED the personality and brain on this baby! I clipped him last week (100 degrees for a week is MAJOR hot for us or I would have left him fuzzy). He stood to be clipped INCLUDING his face, belly, and legs without any problems at all! He's looking like he'll stay either a dark, dark chocolate brown (black muzzle, not tan) or black - not grey YEAH!! He loaded and rode 3hrs for his first trailer ride without a problem...just hopped right on with mom. We just have a little farm, so he's seen paddocks and a little 4 stall barn, no aisles. We went to Delaware Valley College's Equine Center, which probably has 60+ horses, asphalt (!), horse walker, and an indoor ring, ground poles - none of which he's ever seen. The inspectors laughed because he LED the way, right across campus and into the ring, like he owned the place - Momma trailing behind!! He also loaded to go home like he's been commuting in a trailer daily! YEAH! This is exactly the temperament I was breeding for!! He's not as flashy or brilliant as some out there - but I'm just an average ammy - probably couldn't ride brilliant anyway! The inspectors really liked him - commented on how correct, well developed, and how strong across the topline and great length of croup! When I asked about stallion recommendations, they said they really liked Desi and would probably go back to Donarweiss again!!”

Miss Independence (Riverman x Isabell/Ideal)

Bred/Owned by Lynn Marohn

I promised to let you know how Indy did at her Breed Shows.....her first presentation was this past weekend with Hilda Gurney as the Judge.  Hilda placed her first in the 2 yr old Filly class, and judged her Champion of the Filly Champion/USDFBC Qualifier class.....we were really pleased to see her beat out the 3 yr old fillies!  She's now qualified to go to the USDFBC Championships the beginning of August.  I'll let you know how we do there. Crescent Moon COF (Contucci x Windwriter/Wigwam)

Bred/Owned by Denise Rowe

Cresent Moon COF completed the Mare Performance Test at the July 13 AHS Inspection in Chapel HIll, NC with an overall score of 7.45 & attained her Elite Mare status with the American Hanoverian Society. She scored 8 on ridability, 7.5 on trot and canter, and 8 on the walk. After an initial uncertainty about the strange looking jump chute, she showed very good form and technique over the fences, scoring a 6.9 and 7.0. She was the High Score Mare at both the MPT and her inspection in 2006. She produced a Royal Prince filly in 2009. She is owned and bred by Denise Rowe of Century Oaks Farm in Timberlake, NC. 7/13/10 Foal Announcements

In June Marie Le Menestral had a lovely Contucci colt out of Davign.  Marie’s so pleased with this combination she’s considering repeating it again this year!

On June 27th, Arianna finally gave owner Barbara Zonay a beautiful new Royal Prince colt.  “Ari had a beautiful colt early this morning! The foaling went well and the vet is coming tomorrow since all looks well! He is bay and looks exactly like my mare did when she was born! Not a speck of white on him. We were thinking of calling him Ramiro and Remy for short.”

Foaling season continues in Alberta, Canada for Shari Coward.  Our foal by Popeye, out of our 17.3hh mare Eclipse (Cheops Z x Tango Selune) arrived around 11pm on Tuesday July 6.  Labor was quick, even though she was a maiden, and the little colt is perfect.  And quite adorable!  Our vet, who is also a breeder, and inspector for the Canadian Warmbloods, is very happy with him, he’s straight and correct and nicely put together.  He was up and running in about ½ hour.  He’s voracious and very very active, quite the little charmer, loves people.  He looks like he’ll be dark bay, perhaps with coronets or socks with ermines, but foals will fool you until they shed out.  He looks also like he’ll be a good size, nicely between Popeye and Snip’s heights!  We absolutely love the little guy, he’s positively lovely.  I will send on a picture when I have a good one.  Thank you for your help in making our first breeding venture so successful!”

In Ontario, Kaitlin MacNaughton welcomed her new Donarweiss filly which was conceived with frozen semen.  Just wanted to let you know that Ophelia had her foal yesterday evening (July 10th), a beautiful filly with a lightning bolt as a blaze! Her current coloring the same tones as Freia listed on the offspring for sale. The vet will be out tomorrow to confirm her health but she is looking great.”

7/6/10 Foal Announcements

Emily Dick has been excitedly waiting for her Contucci x Wolkenstar foal to arrive and he finally has!  “I just wanted to let you know that on June 19, 2010 Wolkenstar gave birth to a beautiful colt. I have named him Carvelli. The birth went smoothly and my mare and colt are in perfect condition.”

Christine Loudon is the proud owner of a beautiful new Royal Prince colt.  I wanted to let you know we have a beautiful colt, Royal Tradition, (AKA Trey).  He was born on May 5th. He is an absolute beautiful and  complete delight. Three beautiful gaits.  We are looking forward to bringing him to Hilltop for the ISR Oldenburg, NA inspection the end of August.  He is a bay with three white socks and has a white star on his forehead.  Dee Osborne, the farm manager says he is a perfect gentleman to handle.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your time and understanding with this last breeding.  Hilltop is top shelf in my book and I will recommend Hilltop to anyone that is looking to breed.  It certainly is a complete package in every way.”

We just heard more from Kristen Teebken on her 2010 Contucci colt. Sorry for such a late update... Isis foaled a beautiful grey colt on April 19th with a giant blaze and two matching hind stockings. He's unbelievably sweet and loves attention! Everything went exceptionally well with Isis's labor and delivery, it was textbook. At two months he's huge and he is showing that he'll be broad and well-boned, such a handsome fellow. We've named him Copa Cabana. I've attached a picture of him from his first week. He's shedding into his grey coat now, I'll get more pictures when he's done shedding - it's like opening a present!”

Donna Sullivan of Maryland welcomed a beautiful foal by Fielding and out of her jumper mare Timeless.  We can’t wait to hear more details!

“My Friesian mare, Maggie, had a lovely, leggy colt by Cor Noir yesterday! We have tentatively named him "Cobain SCS", or Coby for short. He's extremely friendly, and at less than 24hrs old, loves to be scratched and I can touch him all over. He really is beautiful!  Thanks!” Judy DeBoer

And the foals are still arriving!  Margaret Drury just sent an announcement on her foal out of Whimsical L (Wallstreet Kid).  FINALLY (after a long 355 days, baby boy Bugatti has arrived.  Very long legs, a white stripe, and at least one white leg – think we will keep him! Will send photos in a couple of days.”

Hilltop Offspring in New Zealand

Chloe Phillip-Harris just sent us a wonderful update on some of the offspring sired by our stallions Cor Noir and Contucci in New Zealand!

Just thought you might like to hear how some international Hilltop Farm's progeny are going. I have a 5yr old Cor Noir gelding, Cor Jet. Recently we won the prestigious young rider class, at Woodhill Sands Horse trials in New Zealand.  He has only had 6 outings in his entire career, 5 for a top 10 finish. At the recent national three day eventing championships, he finished on his dressage score, placing 22 out of 90. He is a fantastic athlete and i feel he has a huge career ahead of him.

Also i used to work for a dressage breeder, who had used Contucci to breed with her warmblood mares. I got to break in two 3yr olds and start them on their careers. These two will never be in competition rings but were athletic and very talented horses with very willing attitudes. Would be top dressage horses if competed. But for the owner who just wants to enjoy them at home.

You guys have done fantastic job making exceptional quality stallions available to people all over their world. The quality of sport horses produced by your stallions speaks for itself. Your dedication to breeding excellence is appreciated and should be a source of pride to your breeding program. Keep up the good work.”

Rappazzini (Royal Prince x Lively/Letkiss)

Bred/owned by Caryn Vesperman

“I wanted to update you and the Hilltop team that my 4-year-old Royal Prince gelding out of Lively/Letkiss has been invited to the Markel Young Horse Championships at Lamplight in a few weeks.  I’m very excited! So send good karma my way – I’m up against some super horses and well-known riders (as opposed to, as I’ve been joking).”
Its impressive to note that Caryn bred this youngster AND is doing the riding!  We’ll be rooting for you at Lamplight! (7/6/10)

6/22/10 Foal Announcements

Twin Lights Farm welcomes a new Popeye filly out of TLF Roseanne.  Named “Rockstar,” she is an adorable bay filly with a beautiful head and Popeye’s kind, soulful eye.  Congratulations!

Virginia Tech shared the news of their 2010 foal crop recently.  We have a lovely dark bay Fielding colt born May 13 out of our Mannhattan daughter, Molly Brown. The colt is very modern and we expect him to be a super hunter prospect. He also has a wonderful temperament, as one would expect from both parents! We had about 1500 people come through the facility on our annual Hunt Country Stable Tour a few weeks ago, and he was certainly a crowd favorite.

We also have a chestnut Parabol colt born May 26 out of our Roemer daughter, Leah. He is a gregarious, compact colt and a very expressive mover. Can't wait to see this one under saddle in a few years! We're looking forward to presenting both colts at our ISR/Oldenburg NA inspection here in Middleburg in September.”

Felicity (Festrausch x Pleiades/Patrick)

The first inspection results are in!  Congratulations to Linda Wanstreet and Lost World Farm. Christian Schacht was here Monday for the ISR/Oldenburg inspection and a clinic.  He really liked Felicity!  He said she had a beautiful head and neck and wonderful gaits – she was awarded Premium Foal with a score of 8.0.” (Posted 6/22/10)

Deliteful FHF (Donarweiss x Tiffany xx)

Bred/owned by Joe & Ann Marshall

In her first recognized show, one of Donarweiss’s oldest offspring proved she’ll follow right along in her sire’s successful footsteps.  "Tammy Paparella won the Training Level Championship at the Letter Perfect Farm Dressage Show on her mount Deliteful FHF, with an average score of 67.6%." (Posted 6/22/10)

6/15/10 Foal Announcements

Welcome to Robson (Royal Prince x Pastora/Pointmaker) of Summit Sporthorses. “Well he arrived at 7 PM. He was up right away and nursed within an hour and is doing very well getting around the stall. Has super conformation though still has a little unfolding to do.  He is built very much like his "Uncle" Sir Donald.  The splash blaze appears to be coming from his great grand-dam Colimbria - a superior DWB mare who produced many top offspring and is now retired.   Sonny and Pastora will stay in today and hopefully have some turn out in the arena tomorrow.  Rather chilly June morning - went out to the barn at 4 AM and it was 50 degrees outside!  But at least we have lots of sunshine today.”

Tom & Susan Crossen in CT have a beautiful new Contucci filly out of Czar’s Precious Lacey.  This is a full sibling to the lovely mare Contilli who scored an impressive 113 pts at her ISR/Oldenburg Inspection in 2008.

We somehow missed Leeann Avellino’s March announcement on the birth of her Riverman filly out of the wonderful mare Arabella.  Her name is RiviAara Jewel. She is a gem and very active and friendly.”A very belated congratulations!

Donarweiss’s owner Rachel Ehrlich welcomed her own Donarweiss colt on May 10th.  Out of her Weltruhm/Periander mare Winnie Winzig, we expect wonderful things from this beautiful bay colt.

Beth Custalow is the proud new owner of a Festrausch foal out of her Rohdiamant/Airport mare Romantic.  Beth’s description of this foal includes “very fancy and absolutely wonderful!”  We can’t wait for those photos.

Charlotte Roseberg of WA commented that “all good things take time,” and it sounds like her wait was well rewarded with a beautiful, black colt by Bugatti and out of her Thoroughbred Bubweiser.  “He’s really special.”

Froelich (Festrausch x Light Music/Landadel)

Bred by Suellen Myers; owned by Dorie Forte

Froelich was High Score 4th Level at the June Vada/Nova Show. He only did one class and even with a mistake on course he captured the Saturday Exclusive Antares prize for High Score as well as the weekend champion.  The following weekend he traveled to USET Headquarter's in NJ for the USEF Talent Search and was pick to move forward to the clinic with Debbie McDonald and Ann Gribbons. 6/7/10 Foal Announcements

Cynthia LaBruzzo of MA sent us this note. I wanted to let you know that Mystique gave birth 5/23 at 10:30 pm to a charming charcoal filly.”  We look forward to seeing photos.

With Social Graces, the Dutch mare owned by Gretchen Rademacher, had a Contucci filly May 27th.

Sometimes we get just what we wish for.  Irena Coz-Lucas has been hoping all year for a filly from her Argus-Proclamation III mare Hobby and on May 24th she got her wish with the arrival of a new, grey filly by Riverman!

We had excellent news from Ilona English and Summit Sporthorses on May 29th.Well Die Feine Lady delivered a colt at about 11:30 PM.  She had me back and forth to the barn a few times and when this beep went off on the Foal Alert I took my time to go out and there he was. He was up, nursed, and is running around the stall.  Solid, no white and looks like he may be black - we will see in the daylight tomorrow if he does have the silver in his hair.  Lady is doing well and already passed the placenta.  We will give them a bonding day tomorrow in the stall and hope to have them out in the arena a bit on Sunday.  Going out to see if I can get a couple of pix and then I'm heading to bed!”

It’s a beautiful Donarweiss colt for Elizabeth Mank out of her Welsh mare Zuzu.  He’s bay with a star and diagonal whites.  ‘He has a lovely hip and shoulder, is adorable, and has one of the most engaged, uphill canters I’ve seen in a foal.’

Sheila O’Keefe of WV welcomed a new colt by Hit Parade.  “Shooting Star, by Hit Parade out of Hawthorne Rose, foaled at 9:30 PM, May 30, 2010. He is absolutely gorgeous, very correct and Hit Parade gave him a very beautiful head which was an improvement on Nicki's head. Nicki has a very nice, but very plain head.  He is (right now) a light bay with a mealy muzzle, a big star with a disconnected, squigly stripe and a snip, one hind sock, and he has a very curly black mane.”

In Ontario Marie Bastien welcomed her second colt by Donarweiss out of Nikita III.  This combo has proven very successful and Marie sounds quite excited with her newest colt – her only complaint is it is not a filly!

Desi Lerro in PA is now the proud owner of a Popeye filly out of her Wicked Courtjester daughter. Born on May 30th, Desi’s comment about the filly is, “She’s perfect!”

Congratulations to Elizabeth Binfield on the birth of her new filly. We welcomed a beautiful bay filly out of our Holsteiner mare Filaree and sired by Festrausch on Saturday May 29th.  Everything went well and both are doing great. Congratulations to Lynn Bury and her family on the arrival of her colt by Negro. We had a beautiful colt born on May 27th.  He is a big, strong bay horse.  He seems very healthy.  As you may remember, he is for my son and daughter in law.  They named him "Finomenon".  Fin to his friends.  Topaz is a great mother. I will send you pictures soon.”

Dr. Barbara Crabbe in OR just emailed that her Contucci colt has arrived out of Bacall (Bordeaux-Pushkin)Just wanted to let you know that we had a picture perfect colt born Saturday night.  All went well and I am very pleased with the result.  Would like to repeat the breeding.“

Party Girl (Festrausch x Pyrite Glory)

Owner/Breeder: Nicole Taylor

I just wanted to send you a quick message about my girl.  She is doing so awesome and is growing into such a wonderful mare.  She is 15.1h at 11 months, still all legs, and she has this great temperament and zest for learning that makes her such a pleasure to work with.

We just returned from the Cincinnati Dressage Traditions Spring Classic Breed Show.  It is the regional qualifier for the Great American/USDFBC.  This was her first show experience.  She was a little nervous and scared the first day, so she didn't show her best, but she got scores of 72.1% and 75.6%.  The second day, however, she was MUCH more relaxed and really showed her stuff.  She won her Yearling Filly class with a 79.6% (within a point of the highest score of the day) and went on to get Champion Filly.  She also won her GOV class (for the second day) with a 78.1%.  The judges were Sue Madden Mandas for the first day and Jos Sevriens for the second day.  Bruce Griffin was her handler for the weekend.

Her highest marks were 8s for her conformation and walk; and she got 7.9s for her trot and general impression.  The judges made good comments on her elegance, rhythm, balance, joint articulation, and her overall quality as a dressage prospect.  Bruce said he feels we really have something special with her.  He was impressed with how nicely she moved and how quickly she learned and relaxed.

She was such a good girl, we just couldn't be happier with her.  I have a couple serious inquiries from people looking for upper level dressage prospects, so I hope to get her placed in a serious show home soon.  Hope all is well and your breeding season is going well.  I will be in touch if we do and keep you informed on all of Party Girl's accomplishments.

5/24/10 Foal Announcements

It’s a Parabol filly for Julia Hirzel!  Out of her Winnetou West-Gueldenstein daughter Wunschtraum, this filly was described as, “beautiful, very feminine, and very long legs.”  Perhaps she’ll follow another of Wunschtraum’s daughters into the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program?

On the same day, Jenny McCreary welcomed a Parabol colt!  “Peppy had a very vital and strong colt on Friday the 14th at about 10 a.m. He has a little white marking on his forehead that resembles a P.”

Denise Rowe in NC is the proud owner of a new Donarweiss filly. “On Monday, 5/10, a new Donarweiss filly was born about 10:30 pm.  The filly and Federleicht are doing well.  Haven't named her yet.  Looks like she is going to be black and has a star and four socks.  She has a very feminine head and very long legs.  She is beautiful and very active.  I will try to send some pictures soon.”

PA Breeder Kim Callaway had a handsome Bugatti colt out of her Elite Hanoverian mare Academy Award.  Emmy had a gorgeous Bugatti colt early this morning (5-15 around 1:15 am).  I think you wouldn't be surprised how he looks--he has his mother's beautiful dished face with similar markings, only besides him having her small star, he also has a large snip.  He also has her white left hind, only his extends above his ankle (Emmy has just a white coronet).  He is either dark brown or black, and has really long legs, a short back, much improved hock angles, and Emmy's shoulder angle.”

Dianne Walker of GA just left us the message that Star Shine (Donnermeyer-Puritano) just produced a lovely Riverman colt.  We hear he’s very cute and has really long legs!

The busy weekend for foal arrivals continued with Laura Decker’s announcement.  I am very happy to announce that Estrada gave birth to her Royal Prince foal on 5/14/10 at 11 pm.  Ravado is a a chestnut colt who is all legs and absolutely lovely!  It took 358 days until we got to meet him but it was well worth the wait!  So far Estrada has been a fantastic mom.”

Irena Coz-Lucas in CA celebrated the arrival of a beautiful Riverman filly out of Facet’s Violet.  She’s considering the name Riveria for her, but she already has the barn name of Ribit.

It’s a filly for Farewell (Lepanto-Rantares)!  Rikki Brozman of Kansas just announced she has a beautiful new foal on the ground. “Remoulade is her name. She got up quickly after birth and was very secure on her feet.  Two tries and she was up. Born at 12:30am and by 4am was trotting circles in her stall around her ma.  Very straight legs and very secure on her feet quickly.”

Susan Field of OK just announced her new Contucci colt. Waldgeist foaled a chestnut colt on May 19th.  He has a huge star and one rear stocking.  I think that he looks great.  He has a long neck, good topline, good shoulders and hips.  Although somewhat down in his pasterns, that will straighten up soon.  He is strong, healthy, and seems to have a gentle personality.  I couldn’t be more pleased.”

In Virginia, Lauren Seitz is celebrating the arrival of her filly by Riverman.  She’s finally here! After being a week overdue, Fina (Thoroughbred mare) gave birth to a perfect little filly (by Riverman) around 2:30 a.m. this morning.  Our precious little “Luna!” Both mama and baby are doing well! J I’m still working on her registered name, but I’m leaning toward “River Siren.” We’re so happy with this match! Beautiful, correct filly!”

Welcome Private Eye!  It’s a beautiful colt for Muffy Seaton of SC.  By Popeye and out of the Welsh mare Humor.  Just wanted to let you know that Humor gave birth to a beautiful black colt on Sunday night. Both mom and foal are doing great! I'm thrilled as you will be when I get some pictures to you!”

The Carlson family in MD welcomed their Hessen mare’s first foal.  Paris produced a beautiful black filly by Donarweiss on May 15th.  We hear she’s very pretty and are looking forward to photos.

Deb MacMillan welcomed a beautiful, very feminine filly by Royal Prince last week in Maine.  Out of her Dutch mare Twilight Zone (Neostan/Ferro), she’s an excellent combination of her two parents.  “The vet was here yesterday and marveled at her strength, correctness and straightness of her limbs, great joints and a beautiful, beautiful face. For a mostly plain bay she is very pretty!!”

Just wanted to let everyone know that I took our 2006 Mare "Wishful Thinking LEF" (Flirt) by Cor Noir out of Only Money Honey by Opus and Furioso II to her 1st dressage schooling show this past weekend. Last year Hilltop sold our treasured mare Rivita (Riverman-Carolus-Coriolan) to Don & Dee Kapper of Outer Banks Farm knowing that they would love her as much as we have.  Yesterday, we had the exciting news that Rivita delivered her latest wonderful foal.  “Dee and I are proud to announce that our Contucci  X  Rivita/Riverman, filly has arrived at Noon!!  42 inches tall and weighing in at 130 lbs, she is beautiful.  The only white on her is a very small star.  She is very strong, correct and what a delight to be around.  Very quiet and loves attention, especially belly scratch'in.  Rivita did very well and knows she has something 'special'.  NOTHING gets past her without her 'approval' first.  We love it!!”

Jim Lewis & Linda Zang of MD welcomed a handsome colt out of their lovely Thoroughbred mare Noblest Yet.  This is her second foal by Contucci and the oldest filly is stunning and proving excellent to ride so we all have high hopes for this new addition!

Evan Cox of NJ welcomed her long-awaited Riverman foal out of her jumper mare Cosette (Caretino-Landgraf).  “I wanted to let you know Chili had her baby! She was about two weeks early but the baby is doing fabulously! She is in great health, pretty big, and very cute!”

A Donarweiss colt arrived in PA on May 3rd for Katelyn Hilborn out of her Rolls Royce-Condus mare, Knockout.  “It’s a Boy! Looks like he'll be black or a really, really dark bay (no brown muzzle), 3 stockings and a huge blaze very similar to his daddy's.  Really active - was up and nursing in 30 min. Already cantering about at 6hrs old!! Abby is a great mom - easy going, but tells him when to nurse and when to stop goofing around! He's going to keep her busy!! Really people friendly!”

4/28/10 Foal Announcementsms

Congratulations to Libby & Jules Anderson on the birth of their Donarweiss colt out of Tolanda II (Ulft/Formateur) and to Rebecca Hendrix on her purchase of Tolanda.  Well, the big guy was born on April 5th he is perfect! Tolanda is a wonderful mom, no complications everything went very smoothly. He's black 2 white hind socks, one front. Just a few white hairs on his face. He's beautiful, and very brave.”

It’s a bay filly for Jason Elliott of Chesapeake City, MD.  By Cabaret and out of the Hanoverian mare Darstellerin, we’ll be excited to see her in the show ring in coming years.

It’s a colt for Gross Roma (Grosso Z/Romadour II)!  Suellen Myers wonderful mare Grosso has given her another fine foal – this time a bay colt by Bugatti.  Suellen will see him in person for the first time this coming weekend and we look forward to an update.

“Just wanted to let you know that Taylor (Tambourin/Bismarck) delivered a beautiful chestnut colt by Contucci yesterday morning.   He is so lovely, and his disposition is so friendly.  He is very uphill, and I can only hope that he canters in competition like he is cantering around the foaling stall!  He is breathtaking. Thank you for being so awesome to work with.  Bob and I really appreciate all of your help in making this foal happen!”  Jane Petrolino

4/22/10 Foal Announcements

Lisa Morton-Gramyk in Idaho welcomed a beautiful Negro filly out of Rubinesque (Rubinstein/Taxeteur) on March 31st.  Negro has a new filly, she's gorgeous!  And what a love bug, very friendly, curious, polite and what a MOVER!!  The filly was born March 31st at 11:40 am.  She has virtually perfect conformation and she looks like her biological mommy, Rubinesque "Rubi."  I couldn't be happier!!  Thank you, thank you!!”

It’s a Contucci filly for Max & Nancy Sterret of WV.  The Sterret’s purchased SPS Libussa (Lemon Park/Bolero) from Ali Potasky through Hilltop Farm last fall and I think everyone here at the farm is almost as excited as they are for Libby’s filly.  Best wishes to all.  We look forward to seeing her!

It’s a colt for San Diego Sporthorses and Linda Hackney! EM Ladylike (Loredo/Graphit) delivered her gorgeous black/bay colt yesterday morning at around 5:15 a.m.  He is absolutely beautiful and is already very independent and in charge!  He has two small socks behind and no other white, and is short coupled with really long muscular legs - he will be very tall as this is her biggest foal yet.  He appears to have his mom's beautiful head - he is just a sweet and beautiful boy - we are thrilled that he arrived safely into the world. Mom and baby are doing very well - he will have his first vet exam today.  I will send you picks of him!  Thanks Natalie - give Bugatti extra carrots from his son please!”

Linda Wanstreet had a beautiful Festrausch filly arrive on April 15th out of her Patrick daughter Pleiades. We are not sure of her color as she looks bay, but her legs are silver.  She has some light markings at the corners of her eyes and around her muzzle, under her legs, etc., but the color is a light fawn – not white or grey.  We named her Felicity.  She also has a lot of black across her shoulders and croup.  Since all our foals are grey or turning grey, I am not familiar with how other color foals look when they are born.  Time will tell.  I will send you some pictures soon – our weather has been cloudy and cold until today and I think they look better after a few days anyway.”

4/14/10 Foal Announcements

Didi Callahan welcomed a lovely Quite Easy colt out of Rehobeth (Riverman) in the early morning hours of April 5th.  He’s still getting his long legs under control, but sounds lovely.  Pictures have been promised!

After a long wait and a few years of bad breeding luck, Kathy Swallwell was finally able to welcome her Bugatti colt out of Wolkenfee (Krack C/Lektor).  He’s a bright chestnut that was born on April 6th – and another foal born mid-day at 1:30pm.

Early in the morning of April 12th, Kim Callaway welcomed a new colt by Contucci and out of Tiadora (Tantris/Dachs).  “Despite being born at day 315, he looks really strong and healthy.  He was standing within a half hour and Tia was showing him where to go so he could nurse!”

Welcome Donarheart RRS (aka Doodad).  Described as quite a little character,” by owner Melinda Walton, Doodad is by Donarweiss and out of the lovely Oldenburg mare Heidekleid.

Another Donarweiss foal arrives for Pamela LaFave in VT!  Confirming one beautiful colt born on Sunday named Don Galeno (little bright one). We bred Pandora's Box to Donarweiss last April and after 357 days have a bay colt with three stockings and a big blaze. Our first Donarweiss foal is four this month and was just accepted by Deb Dean-Smith in her limited lesson/training program this past Friday. She loved his confirmation, movement and attitude so we look forward to his progress and wait for the little one to catch up! DW has really passed on his sweet personality and his athleticism.”

Patriot (Popeye x Chere)

Bred by Suzan Rickey; owned by Dr. Elizabeth Kelly

“Here are two links of Popeye’s colt by Chere.  He is 2 weeks and 3 weeks of age in the video.  I'm going to try and get some updated video this weekend.  He is absolutely gorgeous.  He has lovely manners and a very good mind.  Give Popeye a pat from his son....” Click here for 1st video and here for 2nd video (Posted 4/14/10)

Becket (Royal Prince x Silena/Krack C)

Bred by Jim Snapp; owned by Paige Walker – sold through Hilltop Farm

“I told you I would be bugging you about sweet Becket... he has settled in great and we have taken him to his first horse show... we weren't planning to show him in anything and just let him get used to being away... well there was a Materiale class for 3-5 yr old geldings on Sunday and we put him in and guess what... not too bad... we got a 80%! It was the March Magic show in Williamston. Becket was a little tired and ready to go home after being there for 4 days... but he really did well. The horse that beat him was I think an 82%. We are loving having him at the farm and he is such a good boy.” (Posted 4/14/10)

Donarsagan (Donarweiss x Wrave/Wallstreet Kid)

Bred/owned by Michelle Roberts/Firemist Farm

This filly is a dream horse in EVERY way.   She is correct, strong, and incredibly balanced for her age.   Donarweiss added some elegance without compromising the size and strength for which I coveted Wrave.   Most important Sagan has an amazing, forward and almost fearless personality despite the fact that mommy is kind but occasionally withdrawn and can lack confidence.  The little 'pistol' gives her feet willingly, leads like a champion at ten days of age, and tolerates touching from head to foot like no other foal I have ever worked with at so young an age.   She is almost impossible to 'lose' in a field as she is a magnet to people despite the fact that Wrave's instincts after foaling are strong and she likes to try to keep people away in those first few days.  I would recommend this lovely stallion to anyone with a quality mare of any breed as an improvement sire in both body and mind.   This may be one of the most competitive babies we have ever had, and how lovely to have both the qualities the judges desire and the soundness and substance on which I will never compromise all in a precocious little package.” (Posted 4/14/10)

4/5/10 Foal Announcements

Suzanne Lavoie of Litchfield, CT welcomed a beautiful, black Donarweiss colt out of her Thoroughbred mare Acappella on Saturday, March 20th.  Acappella was in our short-term Mare Management program last season, so we were especially excited to hear of her delivery.  It sounds like it took the maiden mare a little bit to get used to the idea of nursing, but Suzanne handled it perfectly and Acapella is now happily accepting her colt.  Congrats to all!

The much-hoped for filly from Wrave (Wallstreet Kid x Georgey Girl/Garibaldi II) arrived at a very civilized time of 12:30pm on Wednesday, March 24th for Michelle Roberts.  Described as a “beautiful, precocious black filly with her sire Donarweiss’s blaze and 2 hind socks.“

And the trend of black Donarweiss foals continues!  “Jet Set Millie had a beautiful black filly March 20, 2010 and we have named her Do I Little Dance.  She came out dancing, adorable and as loving as her mommy.”  Congratulations to Faith Leatherman on her second Donarweiss foal of the year!

Donna Mayne’s Dutch Warmblood mare Ferrymore Lane gave birth to a beautiful Royal Prince filly on March 23rd at 1:30pm.  Lots of mares seem to be very considerate this year and foaling mid-day!  “Mom and baby are doing great! Her name is "Rae Sangria" - she is quite the "attitude" girl... very energetic, sassy, and showing off.  Every day as she gets stronger we see wonderful uphill, elevated movements... We are very pleased!  And I think she has "energized her Mom (Ferrymore Lane - They love to play together! Everyone at Hilltop has been wonderful!  Video

Congratulations to Debra Haber on the birth of her adorable Popeye colt on April 2nd.  He is out of a Grusus/Waldgott mare.  “We have a healthy bay boy born this morning. Mom and baby are doing great. I think Pei Mei is the name we have decided on. He has short socks on all four legs and a tiny white spot on his forehead but that is all the white. He seems very strong to me. The first time on his feet, he stayed up for the next three hours. When he did lay down to nap, he just popped back up when he was ready. I know he is only a day old, but I think Popeye gave him a much stronger back end than Ruby has.”

Paula Byrum’s Art Deco daughter Amidst the Colors had a chestnut colt by Bugatti on Easter morning.  Congrats to all and we look forward to seeing photos.

Royal Princess OBX (Royal Prince x Brimming/Banter)

Bred by Don & Dee Kapper; Owned by Wendy & Marty Costello

This morning I received an email from Liz Bulbrook, the head nutritionist and member of the board of directors of Baileys Horse Feed in England. They are the licensed manufacturers and distributors of Progressive Nutrition feeds and feeding programs inside the EU.  She trains and competes as an Eventer, with her Contucci grandson, and we frequently share photos of our horses with each other.  I was pleasantly surprised to see they selected the photo of our 'Princess', at 4 months of age, as a representative of our nutrition program, they wanted to 'show the horse owners in England' as they travel down the road making feed deliveries.

Here is what she said about the photo on the back of their new 'semi-trailer': "Our new lorry arrived the other day and I happened to be in the yard when it was being loaded, walked behind it and saw the rear view and thought, 'wow - she looks good'! Your filly is now being driven around the United Kingdom for all to see!"

We thought you would enjoy seeing this photo and showing it to your friends of our 'Pride and Joy': Royal Princes OBX.  We always knew she would be an 'International Star'. Our love to all, Don and Dee (Posted 4/5/10)

Currituck (Contucci  X  Casa Blanca/Cabaret)

“I hope that all is well with you.  My Yearling, Tiamo Diamante, is such a treat to watch.  He is very fluid with a beautiful, long, easy stride in the gallop.  He is also very nice to handle.  The farrier and vet especially appreciate this! (Posted 4/5/10)

3/25/10 Foal Announcements

Congratulations to Irena Coz-Lucas of California on the birth of her Donarweiss filly out of Fiona (Feiner Stern/Grand Canyon).  We hear she is a beautiful bay filly with 4 tall white socks.“Fiona had a STUNNING filly on 2/20.  Fi was a complete jerk of a parent for the first three days, only allowing "Poppy" aka Dulcinea to nurse if I was standing in the stall.  So for the better part of 72 hours I was down at the barn forcing Fi to nurse her foal every hour, then running back up to the house and nursing my own baby (born 12/30).  Talk about sleep depravation!”

And another Donarweiss filly arrives!  Faith & Brad Leatherman of Maryland welcomed a new foal on St. Patrick’s Day out of their Thoroughbred mare.  “Sophie "The Soph" gave birth at 10:30 pm St. Patrick's Day, March 17, to a beautiful jet black Donnarweiss filly.  This is her second filly by Donnarweiss and she is as exquisite as the first, Dezarae.  Thank you Hilltop and thank you Donnarweiss.  We love her!”

Bugatti 2010 FillyIt’s a Bugatti filly!  Congratulations to Wendy & Marty Costello on the birth of their Bugatti filly out of the lovely Thoroughbred mare Little Black.  Sounds like the filly may stay black and has just a little bit of white.

“Just wanted to let you know that our mare SPS Felicita foaled a healthy colt on 3/18/10. He is a chestnut with the cutest face markings! I will send pictures of him soon. Thanks!” Tiffany Bragg

Margo Clegg of Virginia welcomed a black Donarweiss filly this past weekend.Katmai foaled a lovely black filly yesterday (Saturday) at around 11am.  She is strong and healthy and nursing well.  IGG at 12 hours was way over 800 so I think all is well.  I will send some photos later but wanted you to know about a safe delivery.”

Charlotte’s Creek Farm welcomed their an embryo transfer Bugatti foal out of their Trakehner mare Akinori.  “It's a colt!! (and a very flashy one too!)  He was born around 5:30 am this morning and is standing, nursing, napping and doing great.  Surrogate mom has plenty of milk and loves the baby.  He is on a foaling farm in Lexington, KY and we hope to visit tomorrow.”  Update on 3/22 “Totally uncomplicated delivery, all went smoothly.  He looks just like Bugatti in my opinion, very correct, but looks like he will turn gray.  He's very sweet, walked right up to us and let us pet him.  He should be home on Friday. Thank You Hilltop Farm for all of your kind and generous assistance.”

Ribot (Reno x Corthena)

Bred by Hilltop Farm; owned by Carla Bahr

Horses are well on my end.  Corthena has everyone at our house trained at this point, and seemed to have enjoyed her year off.  The Contucci yearling is looking great- big and beautiful.  Ribot, the Reno 8 year old debuted in Wellington as PSG and I1 and picked up ribbons with good scores.  He is really developing well and Robert Dover, the new Canadian team advisor loved him so we are pretty excited about his future.  I know that Pacino was down, but the match-up of the brothers was not to be.  We did the 2 shows that offered a CDI and Pacino seemed to be at the alternative show weekends, so we didn't get a chance to see him.  (Posted 3/25/10)

3/17/10 Foal Announcement

Todd & Becky Bryan of Union Bridge, MD welcomed a much-anticipated Bugatti foal out of their lovely mare Sandra Dee (Santa Cruz).  “Sandra had a very tall, leggy filly last night around 9:00PM.  She's chestnut with a huge white blaze and two high hind stockings.  I assume that she will turn grey (although Sandra was born bay). The filly was very quick to stand and nurse, and her legs are beautifully correct.  Her face, as you can imagine, is just gorgeous.  I will send photos when I get the chance.  This is a really nice foal.  Thanks so much for helping to make this possible.  Now Todd and I have his and hers Bugatti's in the garage!”

3/11/10 Foal Announcements

Congratulations to Dooder Luce on her new Donarweiss filly out of her Quarter Horse mare Tiger In My Tank.  “Tig delivered a beautiful black filly at 7:00 this morning. This is the only foal ever born here during the daylight hours. I COULD HAVE GOTTEN SOME SLEEP!!!!! All is well.”

Congratulations to Rebecca Johnson and Columbine Equestrian Center on their adorable colt by Cabaret who was born in late February.   “Nola (She’s Notable) safely delivered a VERY tall, handsome, correct, bay colt last week.  We are very pleased with him.  He is exceptionally friendly and very curious.  I am looking forward to developing him as a competitor.  I am considering rebreeding the mare.  Thanks for all of your support, you have been fabulous to work with.”

Early on March 9th Pinky Roberts welcomed a beautiful Contucci filly in California.  Out of her Swedish mare Ambience, this filly is a delight.  “She was born this AM. Already cantering around the stall and equiped with designer white trim. BIG. Want to do THIS again!”

Lauren Dearlove and Denise Williams welcomed a Royal Prince colt out of the Gold Luck daughter Ghlacier in early March.  It was an uncomplicated delivery and we’ll look forward to seeing photos in the near future.

Chardonnay (Comic x Kitty Colleen xx)

Bred/owned by Sheila O’Keefe/Tranquility Farm

We took Chardonnay to his 3rd clinic with Bruno Greber this past weekend. Bruno absolutely fell in love with him. The more he and Abe worked with him, the better he got. Bruno was raving about him and told me not to sell him for a while because he has soooo much potential. He started to really relax under saddle, he started on his own to sit a little (age and development appropriate - AND on his own as he relaxed) and his back and tail just started to swing with tremendous, natural elasticity. He comes very well under himself with good hock action and he figured out how to get his front end out of the way with only a little encouragement from Abe and Bruno to show the most wonderful, natural shoulder freedom and reach. He was soooo relaxed and with a nice soft eye, but Bruno couldn't stop raving about the 'presence' that he shows - even as a 'baby'. (Posted 3/2/10)

More Popeye foals arrive

Congratulations to Barbara McKnew and her family on the birth of their colt by Popeye and out of their pony mare DBL Copper Twist LG.  The beautiful colt was born on February 23rd.  He looks like he’ll be a bay with black points and has one small rear sock.

Cor Noir filly arrives in CA for Cappilla family

Rebecca (Riverman-Malteser) had her foal Monday night.  She is a big and beautiful filly.  Both Mama and filly are doing great.  Cheryl has been sleeping in the barn and heard the labor when it started then called me, I woke the kids, we all rushed to the barn and were able to witness as well as participate in the event.  This was our first foal born on the ranch so we're all pretty excited about it. 2nd Foal of 2010 Arrives

Winter storms have a great way of causing mares to foal it seems and while the East Coast was being battered with more snow, Kim Russell welcomed her new colt by Festrausch and out of her Thoroughbred mare Tis Lycius on February 10th around 2AM.  “A big chestnut colt. He's doing great and nursing up a storm.” (Posted 2/12/10)

Bentlee (Bugatti x Intermezzo-Cicero)

Last weekend I had a clinic with Christiane Borchert from Germany here in Idaho.  I rode Bentlee my Bugatti gelding.  Christiane really liked him, she said he is a good mover and really smart.  I am having so much fun on him.  I wish I would have taken a video and sent a short bit to you.  I will send you something or a picture as soon and the winter wool sheds off a little bit.  He is without a doubt the best cross I have had with Intermezzo. ~ Tava Gee, Rexburg, Idaho (Posted 2/12/10)

RoxieRoxie (Riverman x Debutante/Diamont)

Bred and Owned by Meredith Michelfelder

I don't know if I have ever told you about Roxie, but she is my 2005 Oldenburg NA filly by Riverman o/o my retired (may not be for long, though!) mare, Debutante, by Diamont.  This is Roxie and Kerri Neuendorf (a great friend, who has trained and ridden and shown her since she was started last spring) at Poplar Place event in Hamilton, Georgia.  They had a 40.5 after dressage and went clean x-country. Anyway, just wanted to pass along pics to you, so you could see yet another EXCEPTIONAL horse by one of y'alls magnificent stallions!!   BTW, Roxie is probably one of my shortest at only 15.3!  She will hopefully do three more events this spring!! Royalander (Royal Prince x Accolades/Adios III)

I just wanted to let you all know how proud I am of my coming 5 year old Royal Prince mare, Royalander.  Last year I showed her very successfully in North Carolina and just received my USEF Silver Stirrup Awards where she won the Materiale 5 year olds and placed 3rd for Training Level Nationally.  For our Zone 3 she placed 2nd for Training Level and was Champion for Materiale as well.  She also placed 4th for Horse of the Year for NCDCTA Training Level Open.  I just wanted to thank you all so much for brining over such a fantastic stallion!  ~ Karen D. Party Girl (Festrausch x Pyrite Glory xx)

Bred and Owned by Nicole Taylor

I thought you might be curious to see how our little girl is coming along.  We hauled her to an indoor last weekend to make a new video, the link is below.  We hadn't seen her move out in weeks since the ground has been either frozen and craggy or muddy and sloppy...so we were blown away by how nicely she has developed.  Teaching her to load was also incredibly easy.  She does have a very bold personality, so she needs a firm hand, but once you assert yourself she is quick to comply with any request.  I'm really hoping to find a serious show home for her.  She has so much talent and her fearless, look-at-me disposition should make her quite the showman! Click here to watch video.  I hope things are going well at Hilltop, I'm sure things are starting to get busy with the breeding season coming! ~ Nicole Taylor (Posted 2/9/10)

First Foal of 2010 Arrives!

Congratulations to Cynthia Lydon of Taylorsville, CA.  Her Thoroughbred mare Count the Ounces delivered the first of the foals to arrive this season on January 21st. “He is a bay colt with 2 hind socks and a star.  He and mom and doing well.  Of course, our power had to be off due to the massive storms we have had recently...It went off around 1 am before his was born and didn't come on until very late the last night...so of no use were all the electric IR heaters I had for her stall!”  This colt is by the Grand Prix stallion Tiamo Trocadero, who stood at Hilltop Farm as a Guest Stallion from 2006-2008 and was conceived through frozen semen. Nabucco BoyNabucco Boy (Cabaret x Dollar Girl II)

I contacted you 3 years ago about my Selle Francais horse named Nabucco Boy by Cabaret. I see a picture of him on your website (young horse jumping free at the bottom left of the Cabaret page). I am very pleased to see that you liked the picture.  I just wanted to update you about Nabucco’s competition results in France. He is now 8 yo. He qualified for the French Dressage Amateur Championship this year at Saumur. He shows great abilities in passage and he is extremely keen in pleasing the rider. Although we are still competing at a low level, we plan to qualify again for the championships next year possibly at a higher level if the winter training session goes well. ~ Regards, Albane Leoncini (owner and rider) (Posted 1/26/10)

His scores were very impressive with an 8.2 for type, 8.6 for movement, 8.3 overall with a total of 8.4.  I think everyone was a bit shocked to have the site Champion foal come from an Arabian mare to tell you the truth.....  I am enclosing a picture of him, thank you for all your wonderful help in breeding this SUPER colt. ~ Dr. and Mrs. Judd, AmeriBrit Farm (Posted 1/6/10)

I hope to have some new photos of Bravo soon.  All of his are from when he was just 3.  He's 5 1/2 now. Best Wishes ~ Chris (Posted 12/18/09)

Cavenaugh

I wanted to share with everyone at Hilltop that while Cabaret has passed on, his offspring are still giving 100%. In 2009 I earned my USDF bronze Medal all the way on the Cabaret colt Cavenaugh. I purchased him in-utero and the two of us have learned dressage together. Cavenaugh has overcome many obstacles including a broken right front coffin bone sustained in the pasture that set us back a year. I hope we will be able to earn our silver medal together in the future. ~Tracey Thompson (Posted 11/2/09)

I asked Janeen Langowski-Grava, the trainer, and Sue Desimpel, the owner, of Currituck if I could share with you at Hilltop Farm how well they did last week at the Regionals. ~ Don Kapper (Currituck’s breeder)

Here is what Sue had to say:
'You would have been proud of Tucker this past week.  He was awesome.  We had a long trip there on Tuesday. It took about 8-9 hours. Rested on Wednesday. On Thursday his first class he placed 1st out of about 13 entries with a score of 70.000%.  Friday he placed 5th out of about 13 or so entries with a 68%. The Championship class had 30 entries and placed 9th with a 67.60.’

Royal Prince x Reminisce/Renaissaince siblings

Bred by Meredith Michelfelder

I just wanted to let you know that our 2009 filly by Royal Prince out of Reminisce/Renaissance was Premium foal, AND highest scoring foal at the ISR/Oldenburg NA inspection at the Georgia Horse Park on Sept. 26, 2009.  Following is a clip from the inspection: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6juhmQvdYM

ALSO, our full sibling to this filly, Rosser MWF, born in 2008, went to the Southeast USDFBC Championships in Ocala, FL where he placed 4th OVERALL in the colts/geldings weanlings thru 3 year olds.  Several people told me he should have gotten first, but oh well, what do you do?!  Ross (aka Rosser MWFm 2008 colt) has been SUCH an exceptional pupil that we have decided to keep him as a prospective dressage horse for Meredith. He is  awesome on cross country and dressage , loves to show off and has a fan club. No one forgets him after they see him. He is owned by Lynne Partridge and bred by me. Contucci has a great opportunity as an eventing sire.  -----  UPDATE They were clear in stadium and WON!!!! Bocelli (Bugatti x Passem Princess xx)

Owned/Bred by Kathryn McFadden

I just wanted to send you a brief update on Bocelli.  He is 26 months old now.  I brought him home yesterday from the trainer.  He was there to get started under saddle and begin his training.  Well, I rode him yesterday walk, trot, canter.  He was fantastic!! So sensible and calm.  It almost felt like riding an adult horse.  So easy to ride; I was just blown away. (Posted 8/27/09)

Megan's dad tells me no one else has ever sat on the horse other than his daughter. That sure says alot about the talent and rideability of this 4YO Bugatti Hilltop son! (Posted 8/19/09)

Comic Son

After having her accident, our young rider Anna is allowed to ride again since 3 weeks ago. She recently showed Comic's oldest offspring, a 4 year old stallion, in a
Young Riding Horse class. He won it with ease, receiving a minimum of 8 in each individual score. With this he qualified for the selections in Verden for the German
Bundeschampionat.  ~ Johannes Brinkmann (Posted 8/19/09)

Remington Steel (Riverman x Shady’s Gold)

Bred/owned by Kim Biggs

I was fortunate enough to lease a nice mare (Shady's Gold) to breed to Riverman and had a grey foal in 2006 that was high point colt at his Oldenburg inspection (you had a photo of him on your website).   He was started under saddle late this spring and our trainer, Brian Bodarke convinced me to enter Remington in a sport horse breed show class.  Remington placed second with a score of 82.3 this past Friday and was reserve champion at Golden State Dressage Warm Up I and placed first with a score of 76.7 on Saturday at Warm Up/Cool Down and won the colt championship (3 and under).  Jens Richter was the handler each time.  ~ Kim Biggs (Posted 8/6/09)

Bentley (Bugatti Hilltop x Mirage/Art Deco)

Bred/owned by Teri Duewer

Just thought you'd be delighted to hear how my Bugatti colt, Bentley, did at his USDF Breeders' Championship class this weekend.  He took Champion over 7 stallions with a score of 83.4, and his mother earned Reserve mare in the mares/fillies class with a score of 76.45.  They both qualified, although I'd rather take the Royal Prince filly in September, rather than the broodmare, to see how she will score.  They allow qualifying for the Finals at the actual Finals class itself, so I think I will try to take Velvet come September.  I am very proud of both my Hilltop babies, and thought you would be, too. ~ Teri Duewer (Posted 8/6/09)

Private Label Private Label Private Label

Parabol x Roc’s Paper Tiger; bred by Natalie Prentice

I feel compelled to share with you what an exemplary personality my Parabol yearling possesses as I know that it will translate into show ring success later in his life.  I took these photos this past weekend while on a 'field trip' to the barn owner's cross country course.  Luke was PERFECT and handled each new challenge (jumping logs, going up and down the elephant steps, through the water jump, etc.) without hesitation or anxiety.

The final challenge was that we invited him to go swimming in the pond.  It has a sandy beach but very quickly reaches swimming depth.  As you can see, not only did Luke handle the pond with panache but also stayed calm and cool while the farm's dogs and the dogs of some visitors joined in the fun.  A total of 8 dogs (two of them six month old puppies) dived in barking and splashing and chasing each other around.  Luke watched them for a minute and then went back to his own game of dunking his face in the water and walking back into the deeper water to have an excuse to paddle around a bit himself.  Our visitors were stunned at how nonplussed he was by the craziness going on around him and we were all secretly impressed too ;)  So, a great brain to go with that beautiful face!  We're really looking forward to starting his formal education in the future. Please give Parabol an extra peppermint for me and tell him he's got another good one out there. ~ Natalie Prentice (Posted 7/2/09)

CurrituckCurrituck

Contucci x Casa Blanca (Cabaret – Caribo); bred by Outer Banks Farm; owned by Susan Desimpel

Currituck (Tucker) has had a great start to his Dressage career. So far he has scored very well in his first two A rated shows.

WPDA SUMMER DRESSAGE CLASSIC:

  • INTRO B 70.00% 1ST PLACE
  • TRAINING 1 67.826% 1ST PLACE

DRESSAGE AT GRAND HAVEN

  • TRAINING 1 66.957% 1ST PLACE

DRESSAGE DERBY 2009

  • TRAINING 4 68.000% 1ST PLACE
  • TRAINING 4 64.800% 5TH PLACE

In 2 shows he is already qualified for Regionals in Training level 4. He is a great horse. No one can believe he is only 4. His first trail ride was a non-jumping hunter pace. He had to lead the older horse through the mud and over a bridge. Thanks to Don and Dee Kapper for breeding such a nice horse. ~ Sue Desimpel (Posted 7/2/09)

Contucci, Royal Prince, and Royal Appearance

Hello!  I hope this email finds you well.  We are anxiously awaiting Ariane's 2009 foal by Royal Prince!  I must share that Corabelle, Raina and Raphael are just fabulous.  I absolutely love what Contucci and Royal Prince have done for our program!

BW-Regal Reception is now in formal training and doing extremely well.  In two weeks or so, I will be sending a new photo of Raina at her first show.  Raina is absolutely one of my favorite rides of the day! ~ Linda Santomenna (Posted 6/5/09)

Royalty

(Royal Prince x Laneigh) bred by Karan Schwencer

I hope Spring finds you well and busy in the horse world.  Just a note to let you know Royalty has been sold. I appreciate Hilltop’s posting her sales info, I did receive some quality buyers, ultimately she was sold by word of mouth from an area judge.  She will reside in Ohio.  She does have a full brother who is two this year, tallish with 4 white socks.  The trainer who started Ro, is on her 2nd Royal Prince and can’t say enough about the “willing to work attitude”. She loved Royalty.  Warm regards,  Karan Schwencer (Posted 6/5/09)

Rohan

(Royal Prince x Special) bred by Anne Schafer; owned by Rosemary Jones

Just a note to let you know that my baby scored an 80.7% in Training 2 at his first club show.  He is going to his first recognized show the last weekend in June.  He is a most wonderful child.  He fractured a metacarpal bone last summer in pasture and finally had surgery to remove it.  He was laid up a total of 6 months with some complications.  He just really started to work this February.  Jim Koford is my mentor and thinks he shows great promise for FEI work.  My wonderful 22 year old FEI hanoverian has been unridable with old injury issues for about 2 years and it is just super to have such a nice baby to start.  Hope all your foals are doing well and you are having a wonderful spring.  By the way, Rohan is still a great cow horse when we need to move the brood cows around. ~ Rosemary Jones (Posted 6/5/09)

Promises Kept

Parabol x RD Muscatera) bred by Wanda Kuester; owned by Janet Tisch

I just wanted to pass along some information on a wonderful Parabol daughter I acquired 18 months ago. Her name is Promises Kept out of the Arabian mare, RD Muscatera, (who passed the Oldenburg Inspection as a Premium Mare).  “Promises” is registered as both an Oldenburg and a Half-Arabian and has matured into a lovely, very correct six year old mare.

I purchased Promises from Wanda Kuester after the untimely death of my 12 year old Arabian Gelding.  Wanda had no intention of ever selling her, however, as a client and friend of  the Kuester’s, I had developed a relationship with the mare during the two year illness of my gelding, and things just fell into place.  The Kuester’s have retained breeding rights to Promises and she continues to live at their training facility.

I have followed whatever information you have on your website about Parabol and his offspring and I just wanted to let you know that  Promises  has exceeded all my expectations of what a dressage horse and equine companion should be.  She looks very much like her sire (just a smaller version) has lovely gaits, and is forward, willing, very smart and absolutely fearless. (She also has a sense of humor and I wonder if she inherited it from her sire!)  I am very interested in any information you can provide me about Parabol, especially insight into his personality and the breeding success of his daughters.

I just wanted to let you know that another of Parabol’s progeny has made an indelible mark in the life of one woman from Altamonte Springs, FL.   In addition to my gratitude to Wanda Kuester for selling Promises to me, I want to express my regard to you for standing such a remarkable stallion. ~ Janet Tisch (Posted 6/5/09)

Riverman Gelding

We are Holsteiner breeders in California....I got a turning three y/o RIVERMAN gelding in training at the beginning of April, and am pleased to report that he is one very handsome guy, and is taking to his early training quite nicely. We are looking at a couple of breed shows for him this summer, so the Riverman name will be seen and heard from in the coming months. ~ Brian Bodarke, Blue Ribbon Breeding (Posted 6/5/09)

Carnegie Calimar
Carnegie Calimar

Carnegie, Cooper, & Calimar

(Contucci x Vodka Gimlet - Martini) bred by Zada Steidl; owned by Claire Darnell

Carnegie and I just returned from our successful CDI tour, competing at the Lamplight and Kentucky Dressage Association CDI competitions.  We took his 4-year-old full brother, Cooper, along as well to give him more show experience.  Carnegie placed in the top four in five of our six CDI classes against stiff competition, with scores of 64 and 65% in the Intermediaire I.  These were our first CDI competitions, and there is still much room for improvement, so I am thrilled with Carnegie's success and excited for his future.

Cooper was a star as well, and qualified for the USEF/Markel 4-year-old Championship in Lexington with a score of 7.46.  He is coming along extremely well in his training and already shows promise for his future at the FEI levels.

Their other brother, 7-year-old Calimar, is currently schooling the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I at home and will be ready to show this fall.  ~ Claire Darnell (Posted 6/5/09)

Bianca GGFBianca GGF

(Bugatti x SPS Highlight-Hohenstein) bred by Greengate Farm; owned by Susan Mercer

We had pretty decent weather for an early spring show in Marshfield, MA. - which was helpful because the atmosphere was poppin'. There were more loose horses than I ever remember at a dressage show! A few ring markers blew over, along with most of the concession stand.... Bianca needed some longeing, as my sister Cary said I was "flying a horse kite"! Anyhow, we did First Level Test 4 both days and got just about the same results each day: 66.8% and 66.5%, first place for Adult Amateurs each day and 4th place overall for each day. We were beaten by a couple of professionals and young riders. Overall class size was about 22 and 18. Just need one more 62% or better score to qualify for the first level year-end championships in Saugerties NY.If things go as planned we will try some second level later in the season. Enjoy the sun and flowers - best to all - Sue (Posted 5/18/09)

Bogart

(Bugatti Hilltop x Concerto in D), bred by Berend Friehe & Charlotte Roseberg

I can't believe that I forgot to tell you that I have been blessed to be riding my Bugatti youngster, "Bogart", and he is a dreamboy!  He slaps a smile on my face every time, and he loves doing his job.  Nobody can believe he is just four with such little time backed.  We are being very careful with his training, he would be soooo easy to push too much, I think he has wonderful potential.  I LOVE HIM.  ~ Charlotte Roseberg (Posted 4/13/09)

El CidEl CidEl Cid

(Contucci x Madrigal); bred by Kim Allen; owned by Lynn Partridge

El Cid is now six (almost) and I compete him as an eventer.  I just recently returned from Florida where I moved him up to the Preliminary level the first of the 'Upper Levels'  He won his first show at that level.  He then went on to place, 5th, 2nd, and 4th in the next three shows.  Last year, 2008, He was Training Horse of the year for Area V, this is Texas, Oklahoma and the western portion of Louisiana.

He is a lovely big (about 17.3hh) liver chestnut horse with a fabulous brain, he is a lovely mover,  always has a good dressage score and is a good jumper.  He very brave and careful on the cross country course.  Last year he was 5th in the Young Event Horse competition Championship held at the American Eventing Championships which took place in Illinois. He will compete in his first FEI CIC* in May this year. ~ Lynne Partridge (Posted 4/7/09)
