PVDA 14th Annual Ride for Life
The PVDA Ride for Life show is always a fun one to fit in our schedule and benefits a wonderful cause in fundraising for the Johns Hopkins Breast Center. This year, Michael took Faberge Blue and Debonair MF down to Prince Georges Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD. Faberge Blue, owned by Lara & Mitch Mitchelson and bred by Lazy J Sporthorses, won his Fourth Level Freestyle with an impressive 77%. Debonair MF, owned and bred by Marydell Farm, won both his USEF Four-Year Old classes including his Qualifier with an overall 8.2. Well done!
Devon is one of our favorite shows and we always look forward to catching up with other breeders, owners, and friends at this historic show. A large group of horses joined us from Hilltop’s Raising Department and Devon Prep Program making this year’s Devon especially busy for Team Hilltop.
It is with great sadness that Jane MacElree and Hilltop Farm share the news that on Monday, August 23rd Cabana Boy was humanely euthanized following a catastrophic injury while in turnout. Cabana Boy’s well-being, comfort, and quality of life were the focus of each discussion and decision and a team of veterinarians was consulted to discuss all possible options and outcomes.

Wisconsin breeders work on one foal at a time. Shannon (a competitive dressage rider) and Doug Langer, DVD, (a partner of the Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital) have bred Hanoverians for 10 years at their Maple Run Farm in Helenville, Wisconsin. They arrived on the international stage when their homebred Cabana Boy represented the United States at the 2007 World Young Horse Championships.
The dramatic view at Hilltop Farm is as beautiful as its magnificent horses, but the facility's scenic side in a relatively rural section of Maryland is just one of the many things that make it unique, the word most often used by people describing this one-of-a-kind property.
