Comtesse, affectionately known as “Cha Cha,” had exceptional scores at her mare inspection with no score less than 8 and two scores of 10. At her Mare Performance Test she earned an 8 for her walk and 9’s for trot, canter and rideability. These high scores earned Cha Cha the coveted States Premium Candidate status. Her show career began with a number of wins at Mare Shows in Germany under Stefan Blanken, Cha Cha was the 2000 Champion at the Ratje-Niebuhr Show. Cha Cha continued with an active competition career and was trained to FEI prior to Hilltop’s purchase.
Cha Cha descends from a highly prized mareline in Germany. Her dam SPS Wundeschone has also produced 2 approved stallions in addition to 5 exceptional offspring by Cordoba. Granddam SPS Goldlady received the 1a prize 15 times during her show career and won the presitigous DLG Championships in 1989.
In 2007, Cha Cha was retired to the breeding herd at Hilltop Farm however she didn’t leave the show ring completely behind. In 2008 Cha Cha competed at the presitigous Dressage at Devon and was named Reserve Champion Mare, Reserve Champion Mature Horse, USDF East Coast Mare Champion, and overall Reserve Grand Champion!
