Breeder Support
A World of Opportunity Awaits Our Breeders

At Hilltop Farm, our commitment to our Breeders extends far past the signed contract or even the live foal on the ground. Year-round, we are available to answer questions or provide guidance to the breeders or raisers of young horses produced through our programs.

A successful future for the young horse is gained by a solid foundation of clear communication, trust, and understanding. At Hilltop Farm, we extend this same philosophy through our Breeders Support Services. We offer direct training input on young horse handling in addition to annual seminars (see Education) to ensure the success of our combined efforts. We strive to remain a resource to our customers through our breeders support services. We are committed to keep the individual breeder or horse enthusiast "on track."

IN-HAND TRAINING CLINICS

Hilltop Farm's championship winning handling team offers in-hand clinics at both Hilltop Farm and farms across the country. See our calendar for the current schedule and contact our office for more information on these opportunities.

In 2002, we introduced an In-Hand Training Clinic Tour that offered our Hilltop Handling Team's expertise at five different sites. Michael Bragdell, our own USDF Certified Handler, leads the tour accompanied by another member of our team. These talented and experienced handlers provide the methodology and technique behind the handling system that has allowed Hilltop to capture many prestigious breed show championships.

The scheduled weeks for our current tour are noted on the calendar. All Hilltop Farm breeders are invited to become Host Sites for an In-Hand Training Clinic. By hosting an In-Hand Training clinic, the host has an opportunity to offer a new resource for their local community while benefiting with their own horses. Hilltop Farm will provide the format and offer suggestions for pricing and local marketing to the public. These In-Hand Training clinics serve as ideal preparations for inspections or breed shows. They also serve as solid opportunities to improve horsemanship and achieve a solid foundation for communication with the horse of any age. Click here to learn more about the limited opportunity of becoming a host for an In-Hand Training Clinic.

This tour also offers the opportunity for a breeder or young horse owner to receive input on the suitability of a particular horse for the prestigious and competitive Dressage At Devon Breed Show. The experienced Hilltop Handling Team can readily give input whether or not an individual is "Devon material" or if the experience will be beneficial otherwise. To participate in this program, fill out the on-line Host Site Application or Participant Application. You can also contact our office (410-658-9898) to inquire further about a site near you.

DEVON SUPPORT PROGRAM

In 2001, we gave a new dimension to our Breeder Support Services by creating an extensive opportunity to make professional training and handling available to our breeders attending the Dressage At Devon Breed Show. Many who took part in the program had never "dared" to take on Devon before on their own. The camaraderie and success enjoyed by all was so significant, we decided the effort must be made annually.

Beginning in late August, Hilltop Farm accepts a limited number of horses in training for preparation for the annual Dressage At Devon Breed Show. Services include in-hand training, conditioning on the walker, extensive grooming, and turn-out as needed for the individual mare, stallion, or youngster. Breeders will handle their own entries for Devon and request stabling with Hilltop Farm. Hilltop will arrange transportation for horses in training to the show grounds and provide braiding and handling services as needed. We also offer riding services for Under Saddle, Suitability, or Materiale classes on a limited basis only and for horses that are in full-training at least 4-weeks in advance of Devon.

Contact our office to participate in the Devon Support Program. We look forward to supporting your efforts to have a successful experience at the world's largest breed show and one of our country's most prestigious sporthorse events!

BREEDER SALES SUPPORT

Hilltop offers extensive exposure of youngsters produced through the Hilltop Farm stallion programs that are available for sale. These youngsters are listed by stallion category under Breeders Offerings on this website. Hilltop maintains a strong commitment to assist our breeders in connecting with buyers seeking the sporthorse of their future.

BREEDERS AWARD PROGRAM

Our Breeders Award Program, initiated in 1996, awards our breeders annually for outstanding competitive success with their Hilltop Farm stallion offspring. Shows across country are targeted in this program with emphasis on the USDF/Cosequin Championship Series for breed and dressage results as well as the USDF Horse of the Year Awards for sport and in-hand categories.   Hunter/jumper and eventing offspring are eligible for breeders awards by earning champion or reserve champion Zone Awards.  A first place finish earns a $200.00 Award Certificate for a return booking to a Hilltop Farm stallion. A second place finish earns a $100.00 Award Certificate for a return booking. A Year-End Championship placing earns a $300.00 Award (Maximum of $300 in awards per mare per season).  All awards must be used the following breeding season and documentation of the win must be presented.
