In-Hand Training Clinic Tour

Host Site Opportunity

Who is eligible to be a Host Site?
Hilltop Farm breeders who are able to accommodate local participants and provide needed training spaces. Good footing is essential. Indoor facilities are ideal; Fenced in outdoor arenas are also suitable.

What is to be gained as Host Site?
Hosting a Hilltop Farm In-Hand Training Clinic will give each Host Site the opportunity to receive in-depth help with an unlimited number of their horses. The Host also has opportunity to provide a resource for all sporthorse breeders or horse owners in their geographic area wishing to receive in-hand training. The Host may benefit by this public event, networking on a local level and establishing their farm as resource to others. The fee for other's participation is at the Host's discretion.

Who are the Hilltop Farm handlers?
A team of two handlers will be sent to each Host Site. Michael Bragdell leads our Handling Clinic tour accompanied by another member of the Hilltop team. Michael was professionally developed under Scott Hassler and is USDF Certified.

What services will the handlers provide?
Our team will provide a basic training foundation to prepare youngsters, mares or stallions for successful in-hand showing. Our team can also train individuals to better their own in-hand presentation techniques. As experienced professional handlers, the team is capable to confirm an individual's suitability for the tough competition at Dressage At Devon's Breed Show. As skilled horsemen, our team can also address behavioral issues and fundamental training approaches to keep the young horse on a positive track of development.

What is the Hilltop Farm method? Our in-hand training principles are based in a fair, logical system that prepares the horse to have a positive response and understanding to boundaries and in-hand aids. Using psychology and good horsemanship, the system produces a quiet control of the horse's energy and a harmonious relationship built upon respect for boundaries and trust. These principles translate positively to work under-saddle as well.

How long is each In-Hand Training Clinic? Two days. We believe, unless otherwise specified by the Host Site, that a 2-day event provides the necessary follow-up for the foundation work that will be introduced on Day One.
