Werbellin's sire, Weltmeyer, is one of the most influential sires of dressage horses of all-time.  A sensation at his licensing, Weltmeyer went on to win his performance test at Adelheidsdorf, and then become the DLG champion, and was crowned "Hanoverian Stallion of the Year" in 1998. He's produced over 60 appoved stallions and over 190 State Premium mares.  International dressage stars Weltall VA, Warum Nicht FRH, and Wie Weltmeyer are all direct Weltmeyer descendents. Grandsire World Cup I won his Performance Test, was two-fold Vice Champion DGL Stallion, and was proclaimed "Hanoverian Stallion of the Year" in 1997 and great-grandsire Absatz is known for the typiness he adds to subsequent generations.

SPS Lady Laurin, Webellin's dam, adds her own special qualities to this stallion.  She scored a '9' on freejumping at her Mare Performance Test and was accepted into the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program.  She's produced a number of States Premium mares, including daughter Wanderfee who was three-time 1-A and Best of Show.  Sire Legat, and grandsire Lanthan, were both Celle State Stud stallions and offer further versatility.  Legat is also the damsire of Isabell Werth's Satchmo.

In the United States, Werbellin is often thought of as a dressage stallion.  Paired with Christopher Hickey since 2001, the pair have moved steadily up the levels from 2nd Level through Intermediare I with scores consistently in the 70's.  On the competitive Florida and New England circuits they have garnered numerous High-Score Awards.  In 2006, they captured the USDF Region 8 Championships at both Intermediare I and Intermediare Freestyle.  Werbellin was shown lightly in 2007, earning a 76% at Intermediare I and is schooling all of the Grand Prix movements at home.

Werbellin's cool-mind and powerful gaits make him a reliable and impressive performer, not only in the show ring, but also during unusual events, such as an evening exhibition to thousands during Equine Affair under a spotlight or USDF National Symposiums.  This calm personality has allowed Werbellin to handle the dual-role of competition and breeding stallion with ease and it has been a special pleasure to watch him competing at the same shows as some of his offspring.

While his gaits and dressage ability were always evident, in Germany, Werbellin was pointed towards a Show Jumping career.  Dr. Bade chose him for the German State Stud and he finished his 11 month Performance Testing with 122.95 points and Class 1 status.  During 1998 and 1999, Werbellin competed in jumper classes for young horses at the A and L Levels.  He won 19 classes, and placed in the top four in an additional 20.

Werbellin's offspring show the same versatility as their sire.  Their great temperaments, and versatile athleticism are allowing them to excel with amateur and junior riders in dressage, hunters, jumpers, and eventing.  Werbellin has produced a number of premium foals from a variety of mares.  Offspring of Werbellin include Wrival and Weltissimo, who are showing successfully on the "A" Hunter circuit and  Werbellin has also produced his first licensed son, Waterford SF.  Bred in the US, this exciting young stallion was shipped to Germany for his Stallion Licensing and approved!

"Werbellin has consistently proven himself in front of International judges.  He has an excellent ability to sit and carry weight behind, but also offers bold extensions.  He has an excellent temperament and is always a reliable competitior. "
