Dressage Groom (Full-Time)

Join our professional team and be a part of an industry-leading sporthorse breeding and training operation! Hilltop is seeking an experienced dressage groom to be based in Maryland year-round with some weekend travel to both local and out-of-state USDF/USEF shows. The position primarily works with a string of 10-12+ horses ranging from young horses being started undersaddle to FEI competition horses and includes mares, geldings, and stallions. Applicant must be experienced with show grooming, possess solid horse handling skills, enjoy working in fast-paced, team environment, and have a valid US driver’s license. Preference for applicants with young horse/stallion experience. Duties include grooming, tacking/untacking, serving as the ground person for young horse starting, clipping, braiding, wrapping, administering basic therapies, etc.  Position is a 6-day work week with a full job description available here.

House Keeping (Part-Time)

Looking for a part-time job that offers a flexible schedule? Hilltop Farm is seeking a housekeeper to maintain the office, bathrooms, and general use spaces of our facility through regular 2-3x/week cleanings. A flexible schedule is offered with the general expectation of 10 hours spread out reasonably throughout the week within the business hours of 6 am – 4 pm. General duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash bins, cleaning restrooms, and misc. cleaning projects. Cleaning supplies are provided. Ideal candidate must be able to work independently, demonstrate attention to detail, be reliable, and provide a resume with references. Starting rate of $14/hour.

Current Working Student & Internships Opportunities

Working Student (6 month commitment)

Are you an aspiring dressage professional looking for the right opportunity to develop your skills? Hilltop is looking for a working student to work closely with our training team! The position will enhance your dressage theory and skills through hands-on experience at a top sporthorse training and breeding operation with the opportunity to work around a wide variety of horses including competition horses, young horses, and stallions. Regular duties include grooming/clipping/tacking the performance horses in their daily routine, supporting the trainers at recognized shows, and general barn duties. Stall cleaning is not a regular responsibility in this position. We understand that riding is an important part of a working student position and offer an intensive training program which includes stall board and instruction-based training on your horse. This position requires a six-month commitment and is based on a six-day work week. Ideal applicants should have strong handling skills, a solid foundation in dressage, and an open desire to learn.
