Lexington
Lexington is a 16 hh+, coming 3-year-old filly that has already done quite a bit. This is not too surprising since, through her sire (Lord Leatherdale x Negro) and dam (E.H. Caprimond x Veneziano), she is related to several international dressage competitors and champions, including Glamourdale, Everdale, Valegro, and Hohenstein. At her first Dressage Sport Horse Prospect In-Hand class last July, she scored 9.6 out of 10 for “overall frame & topline; balance & proportions” and 9.3 for “general impression”. At her Oldenburg N.A. Registry inspection, Lexington was designated a Premium Foal, received the High Score award, and was named Foal Champion. Since then, she has received training at the Ellsworth Equine Program in showmanship, obstacle skills, patience, desensitization, longeing, trailering, and farrier manners. She has also been trained in ground driving, standing quietly during mounting and dismounting, yielding to a rider’s leg pressure, serpentines, lateral movement, picking up correct leads, moving shoulders independently, backing up straight, and turns on the forehand and haunches. In December she went to her first show, had no problem with the crowded warm-up arena, and won several ribbons. Under saddle, she shows uphill balance, suspension, elasticity, and cooperative temperament. Given her breeding, conformation, intelligence, and some opportunity, we think she may well reach advanced levels in dressage.
Lexington’s sire, Louisville HTF, has been making excellent progress through the levels, competing so successfully at Intermediate II and Grand Prix in 2025, as an 8-year-old. He has won the US Dressage Finals, All-Breeds Awards, and placed 6th at the USEF Developing Grand Prix Championships, among other honors during his relatively short show career. His sire, Lord Leatherdale, has sired many Young Horse Champions and international Grand Prix horses. Louisville’s dam was a successful competitor in the USEF Intermediare Championships and had Grand Prix wins. Her sire, Negro, has shown himself to be a great sire of Grand Prix offspring.
Lexington’s dam, Athaena*M* (E.H. Caprimond x Anastazia/Veneziano), was designated a Model Mare (*M*) at her Trakehner inspection as a 3 yr. old, a coveted distinction. She helped her young amateur rider earn her USDF Bronze Medal and received the Oldenburg NA Star Award for Performance, as well as a USDF Performance Award. Her sire, E.H. Caprimond is legendary for his excellent breeding and performance career. In 1995, Caprimond was awarded Elite Stallion status (“E.H.”). In 1998, he was proclaimed Trakehner Stallion of the Year. Until 19 years of age, E.H. Caprimond was successful in Grand Prix competitions and was approved for numerous registries, valued for his many talented, rideable offspring with beautiful conformation. Athaena*M*’s dam, Anastazia, was Trakehner Horse of the Year Champion in the 2-year-old fillies division. She was also Reserve Champion USDF Sport Horse Breeding Horse of the Year in that division. In addition, Anastazia received the Oldenburg Star Award for Performance of Offspring competing in both dressage and eventing.
