Dressage at the Meadow Sport Horse Show

Hilltop News Dressage at the Meadow Sport Horse Show Return to All Hilltop News >>> We had a really super start to the 2016 Breed Show Season this week at Dressage at the Meadow in Doswell, VA. Hilltop Farm’s own Stetson HTF (Sternlicht – Negro) won his Yearling Colts Class and then went on to be named Champion Colt, Champion Young Horse, and overall Reserve Grand Champion. Stetson delighted with his beautiful type and strong presentation. Margaretta Frederick’s Coeur De Lion (Coeur d’ Amour – Fit to Fight xx) had a great first outing, winning the Two Year Colts and Gelding Class and taking the Reserve Champion Colt title.  Calliope HTF (Contucci – Royal Prince), bred by Hilltop and owned by Beth Custalow, showed beautifully in her Yearling Fillies class, placing 2nd and ending up Reserve Champion Filly. We were excited to have Michelle Roberts on hand to watch her own Ishin Maru (Kaareltje – Donnerhall) in her first show! Michelle’s “Golden Girl” drew quite a few admirers and placed 2nd in her Three Year Old Fillies class. In the Hanoverian IBC, Stetson and Calliope placed 1st and 2nd respectively. Despite the rainy weather, we couldn’t have been happier with how these young horses handled their first outing of the year. A huge thank you to the Dressage at the Meadow organizers and volunteers for a well-run, exciting start to the season! The First Foals Arrive

Hilltop News The First Foals Arrive Return to All Hilltop News >>> Hilltop’s 2016 foaling season is off to a wonderful start.  It’s coming to the end of April now and the first five foals are safely on the ground.  Double H Farm’s jumper mare Ultra (Willem van de Helle) produced her first foal in March – a strong, well-built colt by Copin van de Broy.  Shorlt after Arlette Johnson’s hunter mare Olivia K (Popeye K) also had her first foal – a very typey and personable colt by Talisman.  Both mares have proven exceptional mothers and seem to be taking an interesting approach of sharing babysitting duties of the two colts.  After a nice break from foalwatch, we welcomed three Hilltop Farm-owned offspring in April.  EM Raj Mahal HTF (Royal Prince) has produced a very elegant, feminine filly by Sternlicht.  After weeks of debate, the name Savannah HTF has been chosen for her.  Next up was Chiquita (Contucci) with her second colt – a strong, uphill and very easygoing foal by Bugatti.  We’re still figuring out a name for this wonderful colt, so feel free to help us with suggestions! Finally, our Grand Prix mare Uforia (Negro) gave us her first filly.  She is a full-sister to Stetson who was last year’s Reserve Champion at his AHS Inspection.  Sternlicht added his long legs to this filly, but we see a lot of her wonderful dam in her as well.  She’ll be called Shiraz HTF.
