A new addition to the Hilltop Farm line-up in 2012, De Feiner Star already has an extensive show record behind him. In 2010 De Feiner Star was undefeated in Materiale and Stallion in-hand classes, including earning Grand Championships at Fair Hill I and Stone Tavern, and being named the Stallion Champion of Dressage at Devon with a score over 83%. That same season Star was a consistent winner with Christopher Schruefer in the FEI Young Horse divisions earning scores as high as 8.48%. The pair qualified for the US National Championships, finishing a strong 8th place and went on to finish 1st and 2nd at Devon as well as 2nd in the USDF All-Breeds standings for the year.
In 2011, De Feiner Star started off his season with good ribbons on the Florida circuit in the FEI 5-year old classes and placed 4th overall at the FEI Young Horse East Coast Selection Trials. He also made his first outings at Second Level with scores of 68 % and 70%. In the fall, De Feiner Star once again was a winner at Dressage at Devon, this time winning the Stallions Under Saddle, his 4 & 5 year old Materiale class, and finishing Reserve Champion in the first ever Materiale Championship at Devon.
De Feiner Star is sired by the elegant Hanoverian stallion De Laurentis who earned 9’s or higher at his Stallion Test for character, temperament, constitution, willingness to work, and his walk. De Laurentis is sired by De Niro, Reserve Champion of his Stallion Performance Test with a great score of 141.93. De Niro had an impressive FEI career himself, but has also produced a number of international Grand Prix horses, over 25 approved stallions, and over 100 States Premium mares.
De Feiner Stern’s dam, Feiner Dance, is by Feiner Stern a Class 1 stallion that produced 18 licensed sons. Feiner Dance’s grandsire is Riverman, an influential stallion here at Hilltop Farm that has sired FEI winning offspring in jumpers, eventing, combined driving, and dressage.
De Feiner Star’s full-sibling, Drum Roll Please, was the 2010 USEF National Two-Year Old Hunter Breeding Champion and was the 2011 Young Hunter Under Saddle winner of the Devon Horse Show.
De Feiner Star was licensed by ISR/Oldenburg in 2011 with an overall score of 230.5 points, which ranks him in the top 15 of all ISR/Oldenburg stallions under the current scoring system. Highlights of his licensing included scores of 8 or higher for type, trot, athletic ability, and jumping technique.
Like his relatives, we expect De Feiner Star will be a versatile sire for both dressage and hunter breeding and we excitedly await the arrival of his first foals in 2013.
"Star is really fun to ride. He amazes me with his ability to pick up new training exercises so quickly and he is reliable in any environment.”
